Max heard Anastasia sigh, and he smiled. He felt her cheeks heat up even more. It was oddly exhilerating to know he could make her blush. He smiled again, rather sheepishly this time, and removed his hand. "It's good to be back," he said softly, turning a bit to look around the Hall, trying to pas over his little spot of weakness.

Annie smiled at him again and felt him remove his hand. She watched him loook around the hall. "So Max, new term... new girls... and then there's you" she said with a wink. She knew him well. He would be all over those girls.

Max chuckled and shrugged his shoulders. "Eh. Not really sure I'm into that anymore. I think I grew up a lot while I was away. Living with James does that too you. He doesn't really know how to do much. Especially now he doesn't have house elves running after him." He sighed. If he was going to be honest. One girl was enough at the moment. He could think of one girl that caught his attention...

Annie furrowed her eyebrows and bit her lip, "You don't think you're in to that? you kidding?" she asked looked up at him. He was the last person she expected to say that, ever. House elves are over rated" she said with a shrug, she didn't like them ever since staying at her grandparents house.

"Nopes. Not kidding. Of course, this new found maturity might wear off, and it'll interest me again. But, at the moment, one girl will do me fine," Max said, turning back to look at Annie, giving her a look, hoping she picked up on his suggestion. "Eh. I had them with my mum. James had them at his place. Dara's got about a hundred. Now, me and James have none. So, I had to learn how to take care of the place," he said, shrugging his shoulders.

Caeleb passed through the Entrance Hall on the way to the Dungeons. Two figures standing together talking made him stop briefly. A bemused flicker crossed his face and he murmured to himself.
"So...you're back are you? This should be fun." His face broke into a smirk as he disappeared down the stairs towards the Common Room.

Max looked up just in time to see Caeleb walking throught the hall. His eyes narrowed slightly, as he watched him walk through the door to the dungeons. He'd have to catch up with him, give him a piece of his mind. After he'd finished with Annie of course!

Annie giggled softly, "your new found maturity came once before... but it never stays for you" she replied and saw the look on his face, she crinkled her eyebrows and tilted her head, she didn't know why he was telling her this. She shook her head slightly, nodding, "you'll get used to doing housework" she replied. She watched Caeleb walk past them then turned back to Max, seeing his eyes narrow. "Don't do anything stupid Max" she warned softly.

"Yeah, well ... ssh," Max chuckled. He was very slowly returning to the old, happier Max. Annie tended to have that effect on him. "Homework's not going to be a problem. I still had to do homework while I was away," he grumbled. Stupid James and his stupid want for him to graduate. He shrugged his shoulders. "I'm not going to do anything. I'm just having really bad mental images," he assured her. Caeleb was his mate after all.

Annie chuckled with him. She noticed he was getting happier then he was when he arrived. Good sign that he was the same guy she had liked. "You did homework? while you were at James'? I didn't have to do homework when I was away" she blurted out and mentally kicked herself, of course he didn't know about it. She shrugged back at him, "yeah, okay" she said unconveinced.

Annie chuckled, he sounded like a father. "Well... he's probably right" she replied with a shrug. She looked up at him and sighed, "my parents died" she said curtly, she didn't mean to be rude but she hated to think about it. "So I was away for a few weeks."

Max's eyes widened as Annie told him why she was gone. "Aww. Babe. I'm so sorry," he said softly, pulling her into a hug. He knew what it was like to lose a parent. But he couldn't imagine losing both at the same time.

Annie sighed and laid her head against his chest, "Don't be sorry... I'm fine" she said softly, sure she missed them but she had cried over them enough. She looked away from him, staring at the ground, keeping the tears back.

Max sighed, hearing her do the same thing, and feeling her head laying against his chest. He twisted slightly, and tilted her face up to look at him. "It's okay to cry you know. When mum died ..." his voice trailed off. He never talked about that. Not even to James. He'd thought it was the end of the world when Brenda died. It meant he had to go live with James. Not a happy thought.
