"Kia Ora!" We're A Long Way From Home

Andi pulled herself out of the car, holding the door open for Raven to get out. Andi hated planes, but she they had to travel that way because of her father, a Muggle. Also, her mother thought it was good for Andi to experience Muggle transportation, as well as magical. She helped her dad get all the luggage out of the boot, then took hold of hers and Raven's suitcases, carrying them over to the other girl. She didn't know whether Raven had ever been in an aeroplane before. The other girl was a pureblood, so Andi guessed that she'd never had anything to do with Muggle stuff before.

"Here you go," Andi murmured as she put Raven's suitcase down in front of her. "Have you ever been in a plane before?"

"Yeah I have actually, when I moved from Kilkenny to London with my parents last summer." Raven said as she straightened out her light green tank top, this definitely was going to be the highlight of her summer; especially after that disaster of a party she tried to host which didn't exactly end well. It suddenly hit her that she forgot to put her wand away when she reached into her shorts left pocket and pulled it out, the question was now what to do with it; it finally hit her a few seconds later, she took an elastic and put her hair up in a ponytail then put her wand through temporarly.

"Wicked, that's good. I was a little worried you were going to freak out on me or something!" Andi chuckled. She watched her friend trying to negotiate where she should put her wand, finally putting it in her hair. "Uhm, I know you like having your wand on you at all times, but it's probably safer to have it in your actual luggage, less chance of it getting confiscated," she suggested. Her parents called out to the girls to hurry up and follow them, and Andi made a little excited noise, grabbed Raven's hand and her own suitcase and began walking towards the terminal. They stood in line for a little while, all wishing it could go faster, but soon, they were all checked in, as was their luggage. Taking their carry on luggage with them, they made their way up to the departure lounge, going through the long, arduous process of Customs surprisingly quick, and finally they were through.

"Mum.... I'm hungry," Andi stated as they walked towards seats.
"Don't tell me, your dad's got the money," was the reply.
"Oh... Dad... I'm hungry," she said again.
Her parents laughed, and her dad handed herr a crisp AU$50 note. Andi smiled, kissed his cheek, then grabbed Raven's hand again. "Do you want anything?" she asked her when they reached the small cafe in the terminal.

After listening to Andi's suggestion on what to do with her wand, Raven removed it from her hair, then opened her suitcase and hid it well enough that it couldn't be found even by a manual search. "That actually was a good idea, I completely forgotten I had it in my pocket, but it doesn't matter now." she said with a slight smile after closing it well; after spending all that time checking in and going through customs, she could see why the muggles were easily frustrated by this, if she could have been old enough to apparate, there would have been no need for all of this nonsense.

When Andi decided to drag her along to the little cafe, Raven sighed slightly, she just wanted to get out of the airport and be in New Zealand so she could just relax and forget about everything that happened over the term. "No, I'm good for now thanks."

"Alrighties, your loss," Andi replied, before turning to the woman waiting for her to order. And order she did. For such a tiny person she sure as ate a lot. "Uhm... Can I get a toasted bacon and egg bagel and a large chocolate milkshake. A bottle of water and 2 bars of Dairy milk chocolate." The woman gave her a funny look, but Andi was oblivious. She handded over the money, and waited for her stuff to come. A little while later, she got her change, and the food.
"Thank you," she murmured to the woman. "Hmm..." she sighed, looking at all the stuff. "Rave... honey... can you take the bottle of water?" She'd run out of hands!

Raven raised her left eyebrow slightly when she noticed how much stuff Andi had gotten, merlin that was a lot! She snapped out of her vacant stare when she heard her friend asking her something. "Of course I can." she said then grabbed the bottle of water and waited for Andi before she went anywhere else, there was no way she was leaving her behind just because someone was impatient.

Andi grinned, then picked up all the other stuff and carried it over to her parents, who had settled at a table while they waited for the flight.
"Whoa, Andi, you got enough food there!" her mother joked.
"Muuuuuuum, I said I was hungry," Andi replied, taking a slurp from her milkshake, while opening the packaging of her bagel. Looking up, she noticed her father's hand out in front of her. She sighed and reluctantly handed over the change.
"I thought you were going to let me keep it."
Her father chuckled. "Not this time kiddo. I'm taking you on a holiday remember!"
"Oh yeah, because I like totally forgot that's what we were doing at the airport," Andi replied sarcastically, causing herr parents to laugh.
She sighed, turning to Raven. "Sorry for my parents' craziness... the paint fumes get to them a little bit," she chuckled, then took a bite out of her bagel. Mmmmm! hat's yummy!
"Do you want some?" she asked the table... her parents shook their heads.

Raven chuckled slightly at the reactions from how much stuff Andi had bought, it was a tad ridiculous however she didn't have anything to say to it because practically what she would say had already been said. She took her mp3 player from her pocket and put one of the earbuds into her right ear then flipped through the songs until she stopped on Lost and Confused by Lillix which was her favourite song now, she began tapping her fingers on her knee to the beat of the song since she didn't have her drumsticks.

"Ah it's alright, trust me, I welcome this craziness considering this is a lot better than what I get from my parents." she said with a slight shrug.

Andi chuckled, and continued eating her food and drinking her milkshake. She looked up as the water bottle was stolen and scowled at her mother, who was taking a drink from it. The woman chuckled, and handed to her husband, who also took a drink, before putting it down in front of Andi again.

30 minutes later, Andi had finished all her food and drinks, and it was time to board. "Finally!" she moaned, picking up her carry on bag and ticket that she was handed by her mother, and took Raven's hand as the other girl also stood. Standing in lines always irritated Andi, but right now she was tired and bored, so the impact was even worse. She fidgeted with everything, and wouldn't stay still.

"Andi, honey, calm down," her mother said soothingly in her ear. She knew that if Andi didn't calm down, she'd be a horror on the actual plane ride. The girl sighed and tried to calm herself down, taking deep breaths. She looked at Raven. "Sorry... bit ADD," she mumbled.

Finally, they were through the line and sitting in their seats, Andi and Raven together, and Andi's parents in front of them. "Okay... now I'm sort of excited, she murmured.

Once they were finally on the plane, Raven sighed, she was just happy to be out of that airport; soon they'd be in New Zealand and everything would just be perfect, well that was if she didn't manage to put her foot in her mouth and completely ruin the trip. "Oh me too, I'll be more excited when we're actually there though." she said with a slight smile then went back to thinking.

Soon enough the thought of OWL results entered her mind and she immediately pushed that thought away, there was no way that was going to stress her out now, this trip was meant for relaxation.

Andi smiled, then fastened her seatbelt. An hour later, after all the safety stuff and everything, they were in the air. Andi breathed a sigh of relief. She hated the take off and the landing. Other than that, she was fine on a plane. She poked the screen on the back of her mother's seat, trying to get it to work. It didn't. (Yes... she tried the "ON" switch!) Great. Everyone else around had their's on! Why was it always Andi who got the f**ked up stuff!
She groaned and layed her head on Raven's shoulder. The girl wasn't so much taller than her when they were sitting down. "Plane's are boring."

"Ugh I know, why don't you just close your eyes and rest? I'll let you know when we've landed." Raven suggested as she looked out the window at the clouds which seemed to fascinate her more than when she was on the ground, evidentally she was that bored to be so fascinated by the clouds but it put in some time since there wasn't much else to do really. She began to imagine how cool it would be to actually be this high up in the air and not be in a plane, hmm..Quidditch would definitely be interesting but it probably wouldn't be possible.

Andi sighed and tried to do as she was told. This was immensely uncomfortable. There was no one in the seat beside her, so she flipped the armrests up, including the one beside her and Raven, and curleed up on the seats, her head on the edge of Raven's thigh.

Raven felt something leaning on her thigh so she turned her head from the window then looked down and smiled, Andi looked absolutely angelic when she was sleeping; she leaned her head back against the headrest and began to relax while she waited for the plane to land.

Several hours had passed and she noticed the plane was slowly desending which was a good thing because she was becoming quite annoyed by sitting here and not being able to do anything, eventually they were on the ground again and she sighed. "Andi, we've landed." she said softly.

Andi hadn't even realised she had fallen asleep until she heard Raven's voice telling her they'd landed. She grumbled sleepily and sat up, unbuckling her seatbelt. Sleeping on a plane was extremely uncomfortable. She got up and stood on a chair to get hers and Raven's bags down from the overhead compartment. Handing the other girl hers, she followed her parents out of the plane.

Going through customs again didn't take very long as there wasn't that many people, so they finally got into New Zealand without a hitch. Getting their luggage, they had to wait a little longer, but soon, they were outside waiting for a taxi. They got one, put all the luggage in the boot and drove off through Auckland.

Andi turned to Raven, an excited look on her face. "We're finally here!" she exclaimed, making her parents laugh.
