The Staff Table is a magnificent piece of furniture, whose whole edge faces the Hall. The seats behind it, all facing the House Tables, are cushioned gilded chairs. They look extremely comfortable. The chair right in the middle of the table is what catches your eye. A great throne-like ensemble, wrought from gold with jewels. The red cushions look royal and it dwarfs the other chairs in comparison. This is where Professor Snape sits and watches over her school.

David made his way up to the head of the table and the Headmistress. "You are Madam Snape? I am David Laine, the new Ancient Runes Professor." he said, taking her hand and kissing it.

Kildara looked up from deciding whether or not she was going to eat the food she'd put on her plate, when someone spoke to her. She gasped, then blushed as he took her hand and kissed it. "Lovely to meet you David. And please, call me Kildara," she chuckled, taking her hand back, giving him a smile. "So, Ancient Runes. I never was good at that. My entire house is covered in them but I just don't have the patience, to be honest. What got you into it?" she asked, thankful for the distraction from her food.

Edith walked into the Great Hall and up to the Staff Table. She was famished. Setting up all her classroom was hard work. She sat down, completely ignoring the Headmistress and the other man, who seemed smitten with Kildara. As was most men that came across her. She started taking small bites of her food, looking around the Hall. I was so good to be back here. She was sure it was going to be a good term. As long as her and Kildara stayed out of each other's hair.

Liz walked up to the Staff Table, passing between the Gryffindor and Ravenclaw tables before taking her seat. Kildara seemed to be busy with someone else, but she managed to give her a small nod of the head and a smile. "Hello," she said to the woman next to her. "I'm Elizabeth Peterson, I don't think we've met." She couldn't believe how hungry she was but she only put reasonable portions on her plate. Running from werewolves took a lot out of a person.

Edith smiled as another woman sat beside her. "Hey Elizabeth, I'm Edith," she said, extending her hand for Liz to shake. "I'm the Herbology teacher." She gave the other woman a smile.

"Oh you've taken over Professor Evans' job," Liz said shaking the hand that was offered to her. "Well I teach the Transfiguration classes and I can reassure you now, the students aren't that bad." Well most weren't that bad, there was only an elite few that were.

Edith laughed. "Eh. Bad doesn't really phase me." She leant in a little. "I grew up with Kildara," she said, straightening back up, shrugging her shoulders. "So, Transfiguration. Sounds fun," she said, her voice going back to normal.

Elizabeth looked at Edith in shock for a moment, "You grew up with Kildara. I don't know whether to feel sorry or ask why." She hadn't known Kildara as a child but if it was anything like she was now, she didn't want to have known her. "It is, we're doing Animagui transfigurations this term. Chances are not everyone will be able to do it, but some of them are extremely good."

Edith laughed. "Yeah. She's not as bad as everyoone thinks she is. She was a bit of a devil child, but I won in the troublemaking stakes. Our families worked very closely together. In fact, she was engaged to my brother," she laughed. She could still remember her parents' joy when Josh bought Kildara home, with a massive rock on her finger. She could also remember their displeasure when she went off with that Randolf. "Animagus transformations. I'm guessing you're one then?"

"Well as long as you had fun causing trouble it's all that matters," Liz said laughing. She had managed to cause trouble when she was younger, although she eventually stopped when she became a prefect. "Oh wow I didn't know that," she said hearing that Kildara had been engaged to someone before Randolf. And now look, she'd left him too though for what reasons she wasn't fully clear on details. "Yes I'm a panther, it's nice because I've got the forest to run around in if I want to exercise, although I'd be careful around there at night. There are some creatures you just don't want to meet."

Edith laughed. "Fun is an understatement." she stated. "I presume you thought James was her first. He was her third. An arranged marriage right out of school, he was killed, then my brother, whom she dumped, a couple days before their wedding for her third, James Randolf, whom, so I've heard, walked out. She doesn't really have a good track record." she laughed. "Mind you, I've been married once already as well. But at least mine lasted a while, no matter how unhappy I was." She listened to Liz talking about being an Animagus and nodded. "A panther, nice. I'm a Bengal Tiger. I need a lot of room to run around as well."

"Her third?!" Liz exclaimed quietly, she didn't know which side Edith's allegiance lay, so she decided not to mention any proper dislike/hatred towards Dara. "Wow, part of me feels sorry for her, I mean every woman should be able to have a chance at marriage." Hearing that Edith had already had one marriage she didn't ask what had happened but her eyes couldn't help asking the question. "Well I haven't been married yet, but I am seeing the Care of Magical Creatures teacher, Simon Hedwig." The thought of Simon made her smile and then she grinned. "I think there are quite a few big cats around here. Both myself and Miss Hedwig are panthers, you are a bengal tiger, and I checked Miss Ceallach's records and she's a white tiger."

"As you wish Kildara." he said softly. He listened to her question. "At Drumstrang they focus on three things. The Black Arts, Ancient Runes and Quidditch. I have experience in two. I'm terrified of heights." he smiled, hoping she would catch on which two he had experience in. "When I was 18, just graduated, I found a runic inscription about resurrection. Interesting, and very useful. So I went North to study, found some... interesting things and learned to love them. I'm also a linguist. I speak 21 human dialogs and 17 beast languages. I suppose that's what I was born to do."

"You feel sorry for her? I feel sorry for you ... actually feeling compassion to such a cold person. We don't get along very well anymore. I suppose that's what happens when you are the only Gryffindor in a circle of Slytherins," Edith said, shrugging her shoulders. "My husband, he died by the way. In Azkaban. Stupid blighter. The only good thing about him was his gold. Which, may I say, is now safely in my vault." She chuckled again, then shook her head. "I bet that sounded really horrible. I suppose, to a normal person it would. But, I had to get something out of that man. After putting me through seven years wedded horror. He wasn't a good husband. And he was old." She scrunched up her nose in disgust to illustrate her point. "Hmm. Well, I hope that goes well. My track record with men since my darling late husband passed, has been, shall we say, rocky. I'm so out of practice," she said, shrugging again. She was an open sort of girl. And she hoped people didn't mind. "Well, seems the big cats rule then. Hmm, I wonder if I came across Dara while we were both in Animagi form, I'd win right? Bengal tiger, against Egyptian Asp? Yeah?" she asked, rather excited, her chocolate brown eyes twinkling.
