Serena walked in to the Auror Preparation classroom with a smile on her face. Serena put the books for the students on the desk out the front and sat down at the desk waiting for the class to arrive.

Sam walked into the class and looked around. Oh god! He was first! He smiled sheepishly at Professor Black before sitting at a desk. "Hey Professor," he said, lounging casually in his chair, trying not to show his awkwardness at being in class first.

Krys poked her head around the door and was surprised to see how quiet the room was. She nodded to the Ravenclaw lad who was in there and sat down a couple of seats away from him. She looked around the room as though expecting people to suddenly appear out of the wood-work but raised both eyebrows with a nonchalant shrug beore offering the other student and grin. "Popular class today, huh?" she offered in a dry tone that wreaked of sarcasm. Then realising how derogatory her comment was she smiled ruefully at Professor Black. "Hi Professor." she said, trying to hide her smirk.

Bella smiled as she walked in to find Sam already there. "Someone's early," she said as she sat down next to him. "Hello Professor. Hey Krysta," she greeted the other two people in the class. "Professor do we need to get a book?" she asked, noticing the books on her desk.

Sam looked up as Krysta entered, giving her a small smile. He was still feeling extremely awkward about being first there. When Bella walked in however, he felt a lot better. "Hey babe. Yeah, I thought, it works for you, so I thought I'd try it," he said, chuckling softly.

Bella looked at him incredulously, he really was perfect. "You are amazing do you know that," she told him with a smile. "True, and since it works for me, it will more then likely work for you too." She had noticed him changing stuff recently and she didn't care whether he was doing it to stay captain or just because he wanted to, he was still doing it and it was really good.

Thanks babe. You are nothing short of a miracle girl," he said, smiling endearingly at her. "That's what I'm hoping! Snape said if I don't go to class I lose my Captaincy, don't wanna do that! And anyways, I've got me NEWTs this year, I need all the help I can get," he said, winking at her, somewhat discreetly.

Krysta watched the exchange of words between the two Ravenclaw students and a gentle smile played her lips. The sparks between them were quite evident and it made her a little envious. Finally the conversation she'd overheard in the kitchen made sense and she frowned slightly. Hadn't it been the Hufflepuff girl who said she was going out with Sam? She shrugged it off and turned back to her desk, studying the books in front of her.

"Right enough chat" Serena sat standing and pointing at the books on her desk which started floating over to each of them, "today we will do some practical but we need to know the basics" she said happily while the books landed in front of them, "now who can tell me the spell to create a patronus?"

Krys knew the answer like the back of her hand but she looked around the room to see if anyone else was going to answer the question. Shrugging to herself she raised her hand in the air, feeling a little silly doing it, like she was 11 years old again. She pursed her lips sideways and waited to see if she would be asked to answer.

Sam smiled at Professor Black apologetically as she spoke. He looked at the book as it landed on his desk. He frowned at it. He hated textbooks. He shrugged and looked back up at Serena. He knew the answer to her question, and was going to answer, but saw Krysta raise her hand. He decided to let her answer.

Krysta realised how silly she looked with her hand stuck in the air like an infant and when she saw Sam obviously knew the answer too, she threw him a wink and a rueful smile before lowering her arm quickly. "The words to the spell are: 'Expecto Patronum'." she began. "But to produce a decent charm you have to be thinking about a really happy memory, paticularly how that happiness felt. A proper, full Patronus will take the form of an animal, usually: something significant or indicative of the caster's character. It takes a lot of practise to cast a full patronus, though." she explained, thinking about how long it had aken her to first produce her black leopard patronus.

Serena nodded and accepted the answer, "very girl, 2 points for gryffindor" she said and the words appeared on the board. "Now as Krysta said, expecto patronum is the correct spell. Now turn to page 35" she said and opened her own book.
Pronunciation: ex-PEK-toh pa-TROH-num Description: Conjures an incarnation of the caster's innermost positive feelings, such as joy, hope, or the desire to survive, known as a Patronus. A Patronus is conjured as a protector, and is a weapon rather than a predator of souls: Patronuses shield their conjurors from Dementors, and can even drive them away. A Patronus cannot feel despair, as real humans can, so Dementors can't hurt it. The conjured Patronus protects the witch or wizard that summoned it, obeys his or her commands, and fades away shortly after it is no longer required. When conjured, a Patronus appears silvery, ethereal, and semi-transparent. Improperly formed Patronuses range from momentary formless bursts of silvery mist, to poorly-defined forms which are easily defeated or quickly dissipate on their own. A full-fledged Patronus takes on a fixed animal form that is often significant to the witch or wizard casting the charm. Suggested Etymology: Expecto Patronum is Latin for I await a protector.
"Now, this is an example of a patrous, "Expecto patronum" she said and a sliver lion jumped from her hand and twirled around the room, "any questions?" she asked as the lion disappeared

Sam smiled at Krysta and let her answer. He opened his book as instructed and read the passage. He could do a Patronus, they were easy, and now he had some really good memories to draw upon, it should be extra strong.

"Professor, is it true that you can use your patronus to send messages to people?" she asked, remembering something her Mother had done once and how her silver panther had spoken in Kyla's own voice.
