Frankie stepped through the barrier and stopped briefly to look around. She didn't know who she was looking for exactly. Any familiar face she summised. Who had made it? Who was still here? She strongly suspected she'd already seen many faces for the last time. The platform felt oddly unfamiliar as she walked slowly towards the red engine. It was exactly the same as it had ever been and yet it would never be the same again. Platform nine and three quarters felt cold and macabre even in the September sunshine. They were all beginning a new chapter not only in their lives but in the entire Wizarding Community. She stopped and leaned against a wall staring up and the monstrous steam engine, her face completely expressionless. This year could be interesting.

Justin took a deep breath after running through the barrier. He still hadn't gotten used to the feeling. He turned to face the Hogwarts Express. It looked more grim and intimidating that it did even when he first saw it. He could remember how frightened he was, when he first set his eyes on the enormous machine. He smiled to himself. How easy it is to get scared when you're young. Once you get older, you have to face the actual fears. He could remember last year, when it was unsure if you'd live to see the next day. He remembered how terrified he was, being afraid to lose people he cared for. He pushed his trolley forward, moving towards the train, when he noticed a familiar back. "Oi, Frankie" he shouted out, grinning as he pushed his trolley towards the blond girl.

Alycya pushed herself through the barrier, coming out on Platform 9 3/4. Pushing her trolley over to the train, putting her luggage into the car. She walked away when she was done, trying to find someone she knew. Ceallach, Danika and Max were in Azkaban, Krysta was gone - somewhere - no one knew. Jeez. This year was going to be different. Most of the people they knew was dead, gone, or in prison. No one was there any more. No one. It was quite disturbing actually. Everyone you thought you could trust, all your friends, they were all on the other side. Especially Ceallach. She'd become quite good friends with the former Gryffindor Prefect. Now, she was rotting in the highest security cell in the entire prison. Amazing. Alycya looked down at her chest, at the shiny silver badge on her jacket. Head Girl. What in the world was she going to do with this?

Juliette walked through the barrier, her brother trailing slowly behind her incase she decided to leave. She couldn't believe it, everything had changed in one year, she moved schools, she made friends, fell in love with Zeke and had him ripped away from her after such a short time. Her parents were surprirsed that she had even wanted to come back but she didn't know what else she could do, she couldn't go back to Beauxbatons, everyone knew about what happened and being here made her feel closer to Zeke. She turned to Emile and took her luggage to him before saying goodbye. She looked around the platform and looked for anyone familiar but the face she wanted wasn't there.

Frankie looked up when she heard her name, but somehow the smile she felt upon seeing a familiar face didn't quite reach her face. "Hi Justin." she replied, shocked at the nonchalance in her voice. "How was your Summer?" she asked, trying to rectify her rudeness. He seemed fairly upbeat. But then he usually was. Justin was the eternal nice guy. Right now she didn't know whether his demeanor cheered her up or grated on her. It was good to see that at least one person she knew was still alive anyway. It wasn't like Frankie had ever been a people magnet. She was fairly solitary, really. But all the missing familiar faces made her feel more alone than ever, like she was somehow more noticeable now that they weren't around to distract attention from her. She'd always just coasted along in the background. The lime light was always a place for extravagant people like Kelly Black, beautiful people people like Ceallach O'Raghallaigh or Sports Superstars like Sam Hearne, Andrew McDougal and Danika Peverell. But they were gone. And to make her even more exposed the idiots had made her a Prefect. Just Perfect.

What in the world was she going to do with this? Aidan glanced along the platform, and spotted the girl he'd been looking for. But for once, it wasn't with any romantic intentions in mind! He set off towards Alycya. He saw her look down at her Head Girl badge, with a bemused expression on her face. Aidan grinned to himself; he'd been feeling pretty much the same way since he got his letter enclosing his Head Boy badge. He'd had to check that he'd opened the right letter, convinced it must have been Zach's letter, but no, the letter was addressed to Aidan. Once he got over the shock, he'd worried that Zach might feel slighted. But his twin brother and fellow wolf animagus had just laughed, and said, "Rather you than me, mate!" Aidan sighed. Zach had played a much bigger role in the battle than Aidan, and was facing the prospect of testifying at Ceallach's trial. It was bad enough testifying against another student, but even worse in this case, because of that very interesting encounter he and Zach had shared with Ceallach in a bedroom of the Leaky Cauldron way back in January. He sighed again. He'd be there if his brother needed him; they didn't even have to discuss that. Meanwhile, he'd better get started on his Head Boy duties. He grinned as he approached the Head Girl, and gave her his most charming smile. "Hey, Alycya! Congratulations!"

Alycya scrunched her nose at the badge trying to work why in the world they'd given it to her! But, she supposed, there wasn't that many Seventh years left. She was probably last resort! She wondered how this year was going to work. She'd grown up a lot over the holidays, she supposed they all had had to. To deal with what was going on, it was sort of neccessary.
She heard her name and she looked up, a smile spreading across her pretty face. "Aidan! Hey," she replied. "Thanks. Congratulations to you too. Who would've thought. Head Prefect huh?" she chuckled, shrugging her shoulders. "How was your holiday?"

"Yeah. If they were gonna pick one of us, I'd have thought it would be Zach."
His face darkened slightly, remembering the holidays that had just passed. His twin had been pretty shaken up by the events at the end of last term. And he'd told Aidan about his breakup with Belle. No wonder the poor guy had been so quiet. He'd actually gone off on his own from time to time, which was something he'd hardly ever done. He suspected Zach had spent a lot of time in his wolf form when he was alone; and that was something they'd never done. They always ran as a pair in wolf form.
He sighed. "Zach had a rough time. With the battle and everything. That's why he's not here today, he has to stay in London to testify at one of the trials."

"Oh well, they chose you. I'm sure you'll be great," Alycya assured him with a smile. "I have no idea why they chose me."
As he spoke about Zach, she nodded. "He's testifying?" she enquired. "Golly, that would be hard. Against who?" she asked. "I was going to go to Ceallach's. But, I suppose I should be here, being Head Girl and everything. Sort of my duty. And, my parents thought it was wrong for me to go to the trial of someone who's cause wanted me and my parents dead."

Annie walked on to platform 9 and ¾ pulled her luggage. She had never felt so alone before. Everyone she loved was gone, all her friends, her boyfriend and her parents. She herself wouldn’t even be at school if she had a choice. She didn’t want her NEWTs but her grandparents insisted. She was going to see everyone’s faces where ever she went. She walked slowly around the platform, looking for anyone that she had spoken to in the past seven years, there were none. Sure she knew some people there but none that would actually talk to her after what had happened in the past. She saw the head boy and girl standing together, both of them from the other side. Was she the only one from the dark side that wasn't dead or going to prison? “This is going to be one hell of a year” she muttered to herself while she tried to put a smile on her face.

She looked more worried then usual, but then again the dark times were not so far behind them. "My parents took us out for fieldtrips and stuff and Neanna wouldn't stop asking about the school. She keeps asking mum, how long till she'll get the letter. Mum never knows what to tell her, so usually she just tries to turn her attention on something else." He grinned. "And my dad was so proud of me, when I got my Prefect badge." He pointed to the shiny badge on his chest. "I can start telling all the younger ones what to do. But what about your summer? Guess you missed me a lot, didn't you?" He poked her arm gently, smiling as he felt her heat through her clothes. He examined her face carefully. It had grown grim over the summer. He couldn't blame her. Everyone were terrified nowadays, but that look didn't suit her. He liked her more, when she was happy.

Everyone were terrified nowadays, but that look didn't suit her. He liked her more, when she was happy. Despite herself she found Justin's good mood rubbing off on her. She listened as he talked about his family's Summer and smiled softly. It must be nice to have such a simple home life. "Oi!" she cried as he poked her arm. She rubbed it with a mildly bemused look on her face. "Oh yeah I missed you every second, I don't know how I coped." she teased. "Actually it was pretty quiet. Dad managed to come up with a whole load of new and original reasons to avoid me as much as possible. I was quite impressed, some were quite inventive." she said sourly. "I spent most of the time reading to be honest." she said with a slightly bored tone. "The weather was good so I just went for long walks in the woods." She smiled softly at him and then noticed the badge on his shirt. "Hey you got Prefect! Me too!" she exclaimed. It was the most enthusiastic she'd felt in months. "Oh I'm so glad it's you and not some idiot." she told him.

He fought her in the battle, so he has to testify to what he saw. And so is Nathalie Desjardins - you know, the little Ravenclaw girl who was sweet on Adam?" He nodded at Alycya's explanation. "Yeah - I was going to stay to support Zach, but when I got my badge, he said my duty was to the school." He shrugged, his own words reminding him of their duties. "I suppose we should dump our stuff in the train and start telling people to get in. It doesn't leave for a while, but we can't leave it till the last moment."

"Ooohhh,"Alycya said, her eyes wide. "Oh my! That would be hard." Zach was testifying against Ceallach. She nodded. "Yeah, I know Nathalie, but only because Adam spoke about her. He liked her. Thought she was sweet." She missed her friend. Missed him dearly.
Alycya nodded. "Yeah, I suppose we should, hey," she agreed, turning to the train. "This year's going to be so much different isn't it?" she asked him seriously, almost pleading him to say it was all going to be okay.
