Despite herself she found Justin's good mood rubbing off on her. She listened as he talked about his family's Summer and smiled softly. It must be nice to have such a simple home life.
"Oi!" she cried as he poked her arm. She rubbed it with a mildly bemused look on her face.
"Oh yeah I missed you every second, I don't know how I coped." she teased. "Actually it was pretty quiet. Dad managed to come up with a whole load of new and original reasons to avoid me as much as possible. I was quite impressed, some were quite inventive." she said sourly. "I spent most of the time reading to be honest." she said with a slightly bored tone. "The weather was good so I just went for long walks in the woods."
She smiled softly at him and then noticed the badge on his shirt.
"Hey you got Prefect! Me too!" she exclaimed. It was the most enthusiastic she'd felt in months. "Oh I'm so glad it's you and not some idiot." she told him.
Justin smiled briefly, while cursing himself in his head. He shouldn't have talked about his parents in that way, since Frankie wasn't so lucky. He felt a huge lump in his throat. Making her feel bad was the last thing he wanted to do. "Yeah, I'm sorry I didn't make it to visit you, I was quite busy at home" he apologized. He had had his hands full. He had been babysitting most of the time. "So your dad's being a complete d.." he grinned slightly, but figured he shouldn't say what he wanted to "..(d)onkey, yeah? No worries, you're gonna be with us over christmas. If you want to ofcourse" he looked questioningly up at her "my mum and dad would love to have you at our place again."
As she pointed out that she was made prefect as well, Justin's heart made a double backflip. "Great, we can terrorise younger ones." He narrowed his eyes, as if looking for something "I know, we can probably find some on the big red thing." He smiled at Frankie, taking her by the elbow and steering her towards the train.
