David laughed. "My uncle taught me to be polite to a woman, Kildara, especially one so beautiful as yourself." He listened solemnly to her talk about students. "Yes, I will support you in anyway I can. I'm but a linguist though, a scholar, not a fighter. It is very unfortunately the children must choose sides. They must know what they are fighting for first, I think. But I learned long ago the world is black and white, not childish shades of gray."

"Well, by calling me Kildara, you are still being polite. I've heard some of the other things people call me, they're not polite. And thank you," she said, as he commented on her looks. "Well, David, we still have use for people like you. And believe me, when the time comes, you will not care that you are a scholar, only that you want to know that the world will at last be right." She listened to him as he continued, nodding. "Yes, most of them know, they were here during the Battle of Hogwarts. Light and Darkness. None of this silly shadow business. I agree fully."

"When my parents were murdered by the Order, I swore I would destroy all they stood for. If that includes some students, so be it." he shrugged. "But until then I try not to let my views affect grades."

Kildara leaned over and put a hand on his forearm. "Oh, I'm sorry," she said, regarding his parents. "My father died in Azkaban. I saw him while I was in there, while they were taking me from place to place, and let me tell you, it was a good thing he died. He wasn't more than a shell. A shell that could scream and murmur. It was horrible. They used to make me watch it, as punishment. My mother, thank Merlin, is also passed. We didn't get along that well. She stayed alive much too long."

I'm sorry you had to see them dying though, that must have been... disturbing at the very least." David said, he thought Kildara Snape must be very strong to have not gone raving mad in their, exposed to that.

David said, he thought Kildara Snape must be very strong to have not gone raving mad in their, exposed to that. Kildara waved him off. "My mother dying didn't bother me. We didn't really get along, and I sort of welcomed her death. I didn't have to do it myself. But, my father passing hit me like a ton of bricks. I was close to him. We worked together on assignments and the like. We'd saved each other's lives multiple times. But, he was just too old when they took him. He couldn't stand up to it."

Liz smiled to herself as she made herself a nice cup of tea and grabbed a biscuit from the plate. She'd been a lot happier over the past few days and it seemed her students had noticed it too. "All because of Simon," she said softly grinning. That had been said a lot over the past few days as well, then again it was true. Now what with the Easter ball that was coming up, Hogwarts was getting busy once again. Though why the theme was masquerade she had no idea.

"You're not taking my name in vain are you?" Simon had crept up on Liz from behind just in time to hear her say his name. He slipped an arm around her waist and kissed the back of her neck softly. "ooh, biscuits." he exclaimed taking the crumbly treat from her hand and taking a bite to annoy her. Ever since the night in the forest Simon had been walking around the castle with a permanent smile. He was so at ease and so content he felt like he was living in a romantic screenplay. He didn't care though. With a family like his, he'd learnt to take blessings and enjoy them whenever possible. "Make me a cuppa too, please, love." he asked softly. The tea looked good. It was always so comforting. "Then you can tell me about your day." he told her, kissing the back of her shoulder and leaning his cheek against it.

Liz jumped slightly hearing a familiar and welcomed voice from behind her. She closed her eyes and smiled as he kissed her neck and slid an arm around her waist. She was about to shake her head when he stole her buiscuit and took a bite from it. "I wasn't but now I think I will," she said jokingly shaking her head. "What is it with you and trying to eat my food?" Personally she couldn't care, the kiss with the cake had been extremely enjoyable and tasy. Since he had her biscuit she placed her hand over his that was on her waist and stroked it gently. "One cup of tea coming up," she said pointing her wand at the kettle and pouring the brew into another cup. "There we go, don't worry it only just finished boiling so it's fresh." You could never go wrong with a cup of tea. "I better get another biscuit as well seeing as someone stole my first one." She grinned as he kissed her shoulder. "Well it hasn't been that bad. Taught a group of third years how to transfigure a hedgehog into a pin cushion, which ended up with quite a few cushions rolling up whenever you went near them with a pin." She laughed remebering a few students terrible attempts. "And now I'm with you, my day's improved tremendously." She turned her head and body slightly and kissed him gently. "So how's your day been?" she asked, pulling away before the kiss got too deep.

Simon chuckled softly into her shoulder as Liz scalded him. "It's tasty and it's yours, what other excuse do I need?" he retorted. He watched her make him a cup of tea, wrapping his other arm around her waist too so she was encircled against him. He laughed again as she got herself another biscuit. He'd already eaten the one he'd stolen from her. He listened as she talked about her day and snickered as she described the frightened cushions. "Sounds about right. I once, in my second year, tried to transfigure a fog into a slinky....it wasn't pretty." he told her. "Mmmm." he agreed when she said he day had improved. "Mine too. The foal's got a cold and keeps sneezing gold-coloured phleghm everywhere." he told her. "I'm told the stuff's a delicacy in China, but I can't see the attraction myself." he joked. "So I was wondering if you were doing anything tonight after classes." he said, turning her around to face him, but keeping his arms around her waist.

"I have no idea," Liz said shaking her head and laughing. She felt his other arm go around her waist and smiled to herself. "It's a good thing I didn't know you when you were in your second year," she said hearing about his second year. She could imagine what it may have looked like and it was putting her off eating her biscuit. "The foal's got a cold?" she asked feeling really sorry for it, although she couldn't help laughing as he explained about the phleghm. "Bless him. I can. I mean who in their right mind wouldn't like to pass up the oppertunity to eat unicorn phelghm from a foal?" she asked. Actually she agreed with Simon, there really was no attraction at the thought of eating unicorn snot. "Hmmm am I doing anything tonight?" she repeated asking herself as she pretended to go through her scheduale in her head. "Well I was going to spend it trying to mark homework, but I'm pretty sure those can wait for another day. Why?" she asked curiously looking up at him. If she got to spend it with him, the papers could wait for as long as they needed to.

"It's a very good job you didn't know me when I was a second year!" agreed Simon enthusiastically. "I was a total outcast. I suppose having a Mum like mine made me a bit...well...different. Every time I got a letter I was afraid something had happened to her. I was kind of jumpy and nervous. Not exactly a social butterfly." he explained, grimmacing at the memory. He decided to play along with her facaeciousness about the baby unicorn phleghm. "Oh well I'll bring you some for desert, then." he said, totally dead pan and sincere-sounding. Apparently it goes well with strawberries." he added, tickling her slightly around her waist.
He watched with a chuckle as she pretended to decide whether she was free tonight or not. He nuzzled her neck as she talked about doing marking and brushed his lips against her skin teasingly, trying to help her make up her mind with an incentive. "Well I thought maybe since it's the weekend we might actually try to go on a date. A normal one. With absolutely no beasties...well unless you count me of course." he suggested, resting his forehead against hers and smiling.

Elizabeth grinned and stroked his arm softly. "Well now you don't need to worry about not being a social butterfly. You have me and Krysta and neither of us want you to change." She couldn't imagine Simon any other way. She looked up at him, shock and disbelief written on her face. "You bring me some and you have to eat half of it," she said seriously. He had to be joking! It was only when he started tickling her that she realised he was. "Stop!" she said laughing as he tickled her. "Fine. I'll take the strawberries, you can have the phelghm." There nicely divided.
Her thoughts and breath faltered as he nuzzled her neck, and she felt his lips brush against her skin. "I'm pretty sure I can fit you in," she said teasingly slightly breathless. "That sounds lovely. Yeah you could be a problem, who's going to protect me from you?" she asked looking at him her lips inches away from his. "Where should we go?"

Simon laughed. He always seemed to be laughing when he was with her. "Well I'm sure Krysta could come up with a list of things she'd change about me. But as long as you're happy with me the way I am then that's all that matters, isn't it?" he said with a playful grin. "I'll gve you a few months, though. I'm sure you'll discover enough flaws to make you rethink your words." he chuckled.
"No way, I'm having the strawberries. You were the one that wanted the phleghm, you can't back out now." he teased her. He carried on tickling her anyway, enjoying the way she squirmed and squealed in his arms.
"Oh you can fit me, that's very big of you." he chided, pretending to be annoyed with her. "You don't need protecting, you already proved that last night. I still have the marks from your claws, lady." he said, rubbing his shoulders defensively. "I'm the one who needs protecting. Who knows what damage you'll do to me next time. I'm risking my life for a date here." he joked.
This felt really good: the playful joking and flirting. The more time he spent with her, the happier he was. They just seemed to fit so well together. He just wished they weren't in the staff room so he could kiss her the way he wanted to. Even the caresses on her neck were a bit risky. He was sure Kildara would not have approved. Being this close to her wasn't helping but he couldn't bring himself to move away. "I don't know where to go. Somewhere that won't be filled with students...or other teachers preferably. Where do you recommend? I'm a bit out of the loop." he asked. He wanted somewhere nice and quiet. It was a shame there were no restaurants in Hogsmeade.

"Krysta's your sister," Liz said grinning. "Of course she'd have a list of things to change. I know I had one for my sister." She laughed and then nodded. "Yup it is and I'll always be happy with you. Actually I've already found one, you put yourself down too much." She reached up and kissed Simon's cheek quickly. "You are honestly perfect for me okay? But if I find anymore I'll let you know."
"But I really want the strawberries. Besides I forgot to tell you, I'm allergic to phleghm from animals so unfortunately you're stuck with the stuff," she said trying to be serious. It didn't help that he continued to tickle her. "Simon! Simon get off. I'm extremely ticklish!" she exclaimed in between laughs and attempts at moving away from his fingers whilst staying in his arms. Something that wasn't working very well to say the least.
Liz giggled and then smirked. "At least you're getting an appointment tonight. Normally there's a waiting list, but as you're special you get to skip the list." She blushed as he said about her claws and almost moved her hands up to rub them for him but stopped herself. Anyone could come in. "It's not my fault your animagus is considerably smaller and weaker than mine," she teased. "If it makes you feel any safer I'll keep the claws away from you."
Liz smiled, she hadn't had this much fun in ages. And since she had a bunch of rowdy fourth years to teach in a bit, she was enjoying all the peace and happiness of being aound him. She knew Kildara would probably a bit dissaproving if she were to catch them like this, but in all honesty she didn't care. It was too nice to move away when she had no where else to be.
"Well what about the Leaky Cauldron in Diagon Alley? I mean we can always apparate there and then apparate back when we've finished." She knew not many teachers went there during school time because the Three Broomsticks was open for drinks. "Or we could just go and have a picnic dinner somewhere if we ask the house elves to make us something."
