Transfiguration Lesson One

[Kelly Black]

Kelly saw Dani come in and sit beside her, she thought she'll lost her mind for a moment, but she got a hold of yourself. She heard the professsor speak to her, and she changed back in a matter of seconds. She quietly took out her things and smiled at Andrew, as he answered.

"Correct Mr. McDougall, 3 points to Gryffindor," Elizabeth said feeling confident that the class was going to have fun today. "Now does anyone have any ideas on how canary creams are made?" she asked. "It may not be the correct answer, I just want to hear ideas. After the theory comes the practical, which is why there's a whole plate of cookies on my desk."

Chris thought he must have died and gone to heaven. Not only were there people who could change into animals whenever they wanted, but there were cookies that could change people into canaries.

He had no clue how they could be made, but decided to take his best shot. He stuck up his hand.

"Are they made of a whole bunch of canaries all mushed up and then a spell put on them?"

Andrew smiled back at Kelly and gave her a nod. He had to stifle his laughter though at the young Gryffindor when he gave his answer. How morbid.. He raised his hand and gave the answer a shot, "I'm not real sure. But isn't there some spell that is put into it that causes it. It could be a concoction of different ingredients as well I guess."

"Nice try Mr. Marquez," Elizabeth said smiling at the young Gryffindor's enthusiasm, "but no. If that were true, I don't think they'd be as popular as they actually are." She smiled "correct Mr. McDougall 1 point to Gryffindor. The canary creams have a spell in them and this spell can be used on any type of food."

She thought for a moment about doing the spell herself but decided to get some class involvement. "Right who'd be daring enough to come and volunteer to show the class the spell?" she asked, looking at all of her students.

Bella thought for a moment about volunteering but then shook her head. She did not look good in feathers, it was one of the only things that didn't suit her.

Amelina had to smirk. Volunteer to become a canary? No thanks. She scribbled on her page, this was depressing. It was at least another half an hour till the class ended and then it was just another class before they got up. She rolled her eyes, heaven help me, she thought to herself. She glanced around the room, it seemed almost everyone wasn't excited at the prospect of becoming a fluro feather duster. Amelina smiled, maybe just the kid infront of her.

Danika smiled then dropped her head, trying to hide the silent giggles she'd exploded into for no good reason. There was no way she was going to volunteer. She guessed she did notlook good in feathers.

Amelina heard Danika beside her, her silent laughing. She turned her head and smirked. Obviously she didn't think yellow was that fashionable either. Mel put her head down, writing notes to keep herself distracted but she just kept picturing a life-size bird. Biting down on her lip hard her pen's neat script quickly filling up the page with meaningless rhyme

"Right since no one will come up, I'll show you it. But you have to know that you can use any animal you want," Elizabeth said, seeing how unresponsive her class was. "Watch." She pointed her wand at the cookie and said, "tiger snafius cookie". She took a bite and then waited, all of a sudden she changed into a black stiped orange cat, stayed there for a few seconds and changed back.

"Now I want you to come and get a cookie and try the spell. You place what ever animal you want to change into infront of snafius cookie," Elizabeth explained. "Don't worry if you stay as an animal for a longer ammount of time, it depends on how forceful you say the spell."

Kelly jumped up her seat. She pointed her wand at one of the cookies and said "rat snafius cookie" she ate it and turned into a grey rat, turning back in a minute. She didn't look at the professor. She just walked back to her seat and sat down. She still hadn't forgotten what happened at the Pitch.

Danika stood up slowly, her body still shuddering from her giggles and took a cookie. She pointed her wand at the cookie, said, "Snake snafias cookie" then took a bite. She thought it han't worked, then, all of a sudden, her body shrunk and stretched out, becoming one long smooth line. Then, a second later, she was herself again, groaning as she sat back in her chair. She wanted to stay as a snake. Snakes were so free.

Isabella walked over to the desk and got a cookie, watching Danika and Kelly turn into their animals and back again. "horse snafius cookie," she said pointing her wand at it. She bit into it and stood still for a moment before she grew an extra two legs and a tail. She neighed and stomped one hoof before turning back into a girl again. "Dani you did not just hear me neigh alright?" Bella told her. "I don't want Sam to know that I neighed in class, even if I was a horse at the time," she said blushing as she sat back down. It was fun though.

Amelina groaned. What animal? She took out her wand, walking to the front.
"Panther Snafius Cookie" She animal had no significance, the first thing that came to mind. The speed, agility. Her joints felt so free, but the feeling lasted seconds, on her way back to the desk to returned to her human form. She grimaced, not really her idea of a fun transformation.

Danika laughed when she saw Bella change into a horse and then neigh. She nodded her head and covered her ears. "I heard nothing," she laughed. "Sam will not find out a thing!"

Chris took his cookie, and looked at it. He knew what he wanted to turn into - but he happened to catch Isabella's eye, and decided that maybe turning into a spider wasn't such a good idea. But what could he be instead? A sudden memory of the trip he'd taken to the zoo for his birthday came into his head...
"Elephant snafius cookie," he yelled, and took a bite. He wondered if all transformations sounded this noisy. He felt very heavy and stiff, but the trunk was pretty cool, and he was disappointed when he felt himself change back. He became aware of a stunned silence, and glanced around, discovering that he was standing in the debris of several desks, now smashed to splinters. He looked sheepishly at Professor Rodgers, and all he could think to say was "Oops!"
