Professor Peterson's Office

[Krysta Hedwig]

Krys laughed sheepishly.
"Yep. That thing's my best friend...and of those around me." she confirmed. "Without it I'm a ticking bomb. I'm currently training myself wandless magic, but it's tricky, I can tell you. Sometimes it's fine. It's all a case of learning how to control how much magic I release at any one time. But knowing how much power a certain spell requires is really tough to learn. I suppose I just need more practise, but it's hard to find the time." she explained, mopping up the last of the water.
"I've noticed that spells that control elements like Augmenti, incendio, things like that are really easy. The power is already there in the element, all I have to do is tweak it to make it do what I want. Other spells are harder. Even Wingardium Leviosa is difficult. I either don't use enough power so nothing happens or I use too much and things blow up...like your picture." she said with a grin.
"Accio is an easy one because it's a command. I'm not really having to control anything. I just tell something to come and it comes. Same goes for materialisation." she sighed and shook her head.
"I'm sorry I'm going on. You must be busy." she said, suddenly realising how much of Professor Peterson's time she must be taking up.

Elizabeth shook her head in disbelief, "I can't believe you have a Triple-Core. I've heard about them, but I thought they weren't actually real." She smiled knowingly, "Well I can help you there a little. Spells that you learn in your first and second year take little power; spells that you learn between your third and fifth years take a bit more power as they're spells you'll need for your OWLS, and then finally your NEWT spells will take the most. And honestly don't worry about the picture. I couldn't force myself to throw it away, so I'm glad that it's been turned to ash."
As Krysta explained that she found some spells eaiser than others, Elizabeth listened intrigued. "It's interesting you've found that out, because that's what Elementals explain their powers as. But you're right, command such as Accio would be easier because they are just that- commands."
Hearing Krys apologise, Elizabeth held up a hand, "Don't apologise. I only have to mark some first year essays on how to turn a snail into a matchstick. Believe me, they can wait if you would like to continue talking."

Krys smiled thankfully.
"Thanks, Professor. But I promised my brother I'd write to him. One of our Ridgebacks just gave birth." she said with an excited grin. She picked up her things and turned to leave, but she stopped and did something extremely out of character. She ran back to Professor Peterson and gave her a quick hug.
"Thanks for listening. You have no idea how much you've helped me. Can I come back sometime for a chat?" she asked.

"Well congratulations to the new mother," Elizabeth said with a laugh. "And give my wishes to your brother, I think it would be a good idea if you told him that I knew of the Coven." She smiled watching Krysta gather her stuff and leave and then widen her eyes in surprise as she turned and hugged her. "Of course you can, it's nice having someone to talk to about things like this. And you're very welcome for my help," she told her giving her a hug back.

Krys grinned at her.
"I will tell him! He'll be glad I have someone to talk to." she said. "Oh I forgot! Professor Walker knows too. Kit is a friend of the family. She fought with my Mother for The Order of The Phoenix. I'm staying at her house whilst I'm at school." she told her. She thought it better if she was aware that another teacher knew as well.
"Well..I'll see you in class!" she called, dashing out of the door and waving happily behind her.
