Herbology lesson 1...All years...

Lily-Anne looked up again when someone suggested something.
"Thank you Miss. Alibrandi for that suggestion, yes we will be doing NEWT stuff. In class to come, promise" She smiled at the student.

Amelina raised an eyebrow. It hadn't looked like it, but she smiled at the Professor.
"Thanks Professor," She muttered. Glancing back at the venemous tactular. Rolling her eyes she leaned against the greenhouse gazing passively at the array of plants and shrubs inside the greenhouse.

Danika sighed. She leant back in her chair, throwing her legs up onto her desk, her heeled school shoes clacking slightly as they hit the desk. She start chewing on her tongue, closing off her mind from Professor Smart. She took a tendril of her hair from over her shoulder and started twirling the smooth purple ribbon in her fingers, examining her other fingernails, which were painted acid green, scrutinising every chip in the polish. She was bored, she wasn't going to hid it.

Chris nodded. "I saw that shop, but Mum and Dad wouldn't go in. They only let me buy stuff I'd need for school." He'd thought it was a bit unfair not to let him even look at all the different shops.

He listened to the rest of Isabella's explanation.

"The witch just told my parents about the war, but they didn't tell me much." When they'd told him to wait in his bedroom, he'd almost exploded with curiosity. "What were Order of the Phoenix and Deatheaters? Why were they fighting?"

"Well maybe next time they'll let you go in there," Bella said gently. "I mean they're muggles so they wouldn't know that you can go into other shops there."

She sighed this was going to be a long explanation. "Right there was this guy called Tom Riddle and he used to go to school here. Basically he became a dark lord who was called Lord Voldemort. He commited tons of murders because he believed in purebloods only being witches and wizards. There was a prophecy saying that he would be defeated by a teenage wizard so one night he went to the boys house and tried to kill him but failed and ended up almost killing himself." She smiled knowing this would take too long if she kept going. "The Order of the Phoenix is a group that supports the idea of everyone being able to use magic. They faught Lord Voldemort and his deatheaters, who followed Lord Voldemort's beliefs. Thankfully Lord Voldemort was killed by Harry Potter and since then we have almost lived in perfect harmony, although there are still people who are deatheaters, just like there are people in the order, such as me."

Danika's head cocked slightly as she heard Bella telling Chris about the Order and Death Eaters. She rubbed her left forearm softly, her Mark prickling slightly. She shrugged it off and turned back around.

Amelina couldn't help over-hear Bella and Chris' conversation. The boy was extremely curious.
She smiled at him, looking to Bella.
"Are you in your first year?" She asked him, he seemed like it. Young, curious.

Chris grinned at the newcomer. "Yes - I only just got my letter five days before term started. I didn't even know magic really existed until then."

"Chris meet Amelina, but everyone ba"sically calls her Mel now," Bella said introducing them. "Mel this is Chris, the person who is one day going to put me into St. Mungo's from a panic attack," she joked.

Amelina smiled.
"Five days? That's late." She frowned in thought, "They must've been considering the risks of letting you come here" She smiled and laughed, showing him she was joking.
"I honestly don't know where they got Mel from. It used to be Amy and then Lina which I detested and now it's Mel. I like Mel. It's short and sweet" She laughed and looked back at Bella.
"Nice to meet you Chris."

Chris laughed. "No, just my birthday is August 26th, so I didn't get my letter till then. But mum did tell the witch who came to see us that the school didn't know what they were letting themselves in for!" He glanced around the greenhouse. "So what sort of things do we learn in this class?"

"We learn about plants, both poisonous and helpful," Isabella told him. "How to care for them, how to see some of a plant's secrets that it holds, basically a lot to do with planting and how magic deals with them." She smiled, it was kind of hard to summarise what they did in Herbology without experiencing it for yourself.

Amelina laughed.
"August? High-five. I'm the 7th though so I had a little more time" She smiled.
Mel bit her lip to stop herself from saying Nothing. She didn't deem that as appropriate for a first year to know. Bella thankfully answered the question for her.
"Yeah, that's pretty much it. Ofcourse as you get older and older they give you more interesting things. I think in your first year you replant like honking daffodils and stuff."

Lily-Anne looked at her watch, that with a lot of effort she kept clean.
'nearly the end of class' she thought... suddenly the bell rang signaling the end of class.
"Sorry thats the end of class today. Next lesson we will be doing so work" She smiled at the students

Bella was just going to check her watch when the bell rang. "Come on, it looks like rain anyways and I'd rather not be caught in it." She quickly put her stuff into her bag and smiled, "Chris I'll see you later but until then, please try and be careful."
