Isabella was looking around the classroom and saw Chris by some of the plants. She noticed him pull a box over and stand on it before looking at a plant. Slowly she got up from her seat, trying to see what plant it was. As she got closer she recognised it, Venomous Tentacular that in itself wasn't good news and what made it worse was he was looking closer at it.
She saw the tendrils reach out towards his face and immediately pulled him back causing him to fall off the box onto her. "Chris do you know what venomous means?" she asked. "It means poisonous, those tendrils are poisonous. And none of us really want to have to take you up to the hospital wing." She sighed and looked at him, "Are you alright?"

Chris picked himself up, a bit startled. "Of course I know what venomous means - but I didn't think it meant it has real venom. I mean, 'poison ivy' isn't really poisonous..." He stuck out his hand to help Isabella up. "You mean it's really poison? Actually deadly? That is so cool!" He grinned. "Yes, I'm alright. Did I squish you?"

Bella smiled, innocence was definitely something Chris had a lot of, especially when it came to magic. She took his hand and helped him pull her up. "I'm fine, it takes a lot more then an eleven year old boy to hurt me. But yes, Venomous here in the wizarding world literally means it is venomous so don't touch without a teacher nearby."
She frowned, she really did need to teach Chris and soon. "Right come on," she said taking his arm and sitting him down at a desk . "Time for your lesson in magic. Ask any question and I'll try to answer it." She was thankful she had quite a few friends in this lesson, if worst came to worst, she coudl ask their help.

Chris grinned. He didn't know where to start. But there was one thing that he'd been trying to figure out ever since he got his letter.
"How come I'm a wizard when my mum and dad aren't? Or my big sister either. And my little brother is only ten - do you think he might be a wizard too? It would be so much fun if he was!"

Isabella laughed, "You would ask the hardest question first wouldn't you." She thought on how to explain it so he'd understand. Personally she hadn't had to explain it to a muggleborn before, but she'd try her best.
"Right, sometimes there are cases when there is a person with magical abilities in your ancestors and the magic skips some generations," she said. "Other cases magic just appears in someone special. Your brother could become a wizard, but that knowledge isn't known to anyone until Professor Snape sends out a letter."

Nathan chuckled, surely the kid was eager to learn, he thought about how lucky he was for growing up in a wizarding family, otherwise it would've been hard on him his first year. He looked at Isabelle, "Hey, you could be a good teacher, you know" he said.

"Thanks Nathan," Bella replied smiling. "Not quite sure what I'd teach though. Your lesson was based around not thinking, and this one is based on magic." She laughed, "that's quite a big difference in subjects. Oh yeah before we go anywhere; Nathan meet Chris, Chris meet Nathan he's a fifth year Ravenclaw."

"Oh, I see. Sort of like when a kid is born with red hair or something, and someone says 'Oh, he must be a throwback to his great-grandad'. Or, if a kid is - I dunno - musical or something, and no-one else in the family ever was?" He nodded. That made sense. He thought for a moment about his little brother. "Well, sometimes Jamie does weird stuff without meaning to - like I did, before I knew that I'm a wizard. So maybe he's one too."
He grinned at the boy he'd just been introduced to. "Hi, Nathan."
Chris paused, wondering what to ask next. Then he remembered something that had happened in class a few weeks ago, one of those mean kids in Slytherin calling him a name... "What's a mudblood?" he asked.

Isabella frowned, Chris shouldn't have heard that name. "I'm guessing someone called you that didn't they." She paused for a minute and then said, "A mudblood is a really foul name for someone who is muggle born and doesn't have wizard parents. Someone like you. No one is meant to use that word, it's sort of like a swear word to be honest."
She smiled then remembering something, "Don't worry about being called it though. Do you remember me telling you about Harry Potter? Well one of his best friends called Hermoine Granger, well actually she's a Weasley now, was a muggle born as well and she's one of the brightest witches in the world."

Lily-Anne looked over the class before turning to a student
"Yes i know what i am suppose to teach you Miss. Vaisey but i simple what to know what you want to learn" SHe smiled at the student before turning to another
"Shame that you don't like me Miss. Snape, i try to be a nice teacher but well, i do my best"
Lily-Anne turned back to the plants in front of her.
'Being a mind reader, helps in some ways' She thought to her self before sighing.

Andrew watched Bella and Chris with a smile. The kid really was too curious for his own good and was bound to get himself hurt. He laughed and shook his head turning back to the teacher. Bella the teacher...well she is cut out for it I suppose.

Amelina found basil and oregano more interesting than poison ivy. The kid, first year was asking an older student questions. Amelina grinned, curiosity killed the cat. She turned back to the teacher.
"Professor...Smart" She said, slowly, "What about teaching us what we need to know for NEWTS?" She suggested trying not to sound smart or snappy.

He glanced up at Isabella and said quickly, "But I won't do that again! I promised!" He grinned at her next words. "I don't know if I'll turn out bright like her. But the witch who came to talk to mum and dad said muggle borns usually do well. I bet it's Jamie who'll be the bright one, he's always reading and doing homework." He paused, then asked, "Who are the Weasleys, anyway. I keep hearing people talk about them. One of the teachers said I was 'as bad as the Weasley twins'. "What did you- never mind I don't want to know," Isabella said, shivering slightly when Chris mentioned spiders. "Well I think that one was possibly justified, but neither you or Nathan just heard me say that. Okay?" She couldn't be seen approving pranks on Slytherins, it wouldn't do her prefect image any good.
His brother sounds like me she thought smiling slightly. If he was always reading, it was possible he'd be in Ravenclaw. "You would be compared to the Weasley twins." She decided to answer his first question first though, "The Weasleys are a wizarding family who is going to have a lot of descendants. They are purebloods but they are what is known as blood traitors by some other pureblood families because they hang around with muggles and muggleborns. The Weasley twins were basically the best prankers Hogwarts has seen since the Mauraders came here. They left school before they had finished and set up a joke shop, you may have seen it in Diagon Alley-Weasleys Wizarding Weases. Unfortunately there's only one twin left, when there was a big battle between the Order of the Pheonix and the Deatheaters, Fred Weasley was killed."
