Dervish and Banges has been part of Hogsmeade Village for many years. After the last War, it fell into disrepair, and eventually stood empty for several months. Now, under the new owner, Jed Ramiro, it is being restored to its former glory. Come in, take a look around. You'll find a wide variety of fascinating devices from all over the wizarding world. Jed travels a lot, and often picks up curious objects that you wouldn't find anywhere else. He also repairs damaged devices. It is located near the end of High Street.

Jed opened the last packing case, and lifted out the astronomical instruments it contained. He had a display case ready for them, and he began to arrange them. Once he was done, he dragged the empty packing case into his workshop, and then locked the door of the shop, and walked along the street to the Hog's Head pub. After dragging around heavy boxes all day, he needed a firewhiskey.

Jed walked through from the back room into the shop. Actually, maybe it was a good thing that he was opening today. He didn't think he could have coped with much heavy lifting and unpacking today. As it was, the shop was clean and quiet, everything in its place, and ready for business. He could take things reasonably easy, just sit at the counter and let the customers come to him - anyway, in a shop like this, most people preferred to browse without the shopkeeper hovering at their shoulder.
He pointed his wand at the door, unlocking it, and turning the sign over to say 'Open'. Then he sat down at the counter, with his coffee mug cradled in his hands, and savoured the fact of his business finally being open.

Halfway through the morning, Jed found he had a strong craving for something sweet. He often felt like this after a drinking binge. He knew he didn't have anything in his flat that would satisfy the craving. What he really wanted was chocolate. Honeydukes finest. But he was somehow reluctant to go over there. Knowing that Charli owned the place now, he thought it would look like he was pursuing her or something. But as the craving increased, he decided he would just take the risk. After all, she had been the one who kissed him last night. Not the other way around. Besides, they'd have to get used to seeing each other around the village from time to time.
He went out into the street; there weren't many people on the main street, probably no-one would try to visit his store. Even so, he used his wand to set the words 'Back in 5 Minutes' glowing over the door, and went up the street towards the sweet shop.

Jed leaned on the counter, watching the students wandering around the village. A few had been in to see the changes he'd made to the store, but no-one had bought anything yet. However, he'd talked to several of them, and already had a few ideas for new products to stock. He was pleasantly surprised to find that he was really enjoying his new job as a shopkeeper.

Aidan opened the door for Angel, letting her go into the shop ahead of him. He didn't need anything specific fromt he shop, but it looked very interesting, from the display of magical instruments in the window. "Anything you're looking for?" he asked Angel, sliding his arm around her waist.

Angel smiled as she felt Aidan's arm go round her waist and leant into him a little, wrapping her arm around his as well. "A birthday present for my dad. He's really into stars, so I was thinking an object that had to do with Astronomy but I'm not sure." She had no idea what to get him, some men were just hard to shop for, her dad being one of them. "What would you want for your birthday?" she asked curiously.

Aidan smiled as Angel snuggled up to him. "What would I want? Probably not something astronomical. I get enough astronomy with our charming professor! Hmmm... maybe a bottle of very old, fine firewhiskey," he said. "How about you? What would your ideal birthday present be? And when is it? I don't think you've mentioned it."

Jed looked up as the two students walked in. They seemed very cosy together. He smiled at the pair. "What can I help you with today?" he asked.

"True," Angel laughed remembering that she still had to do the Astronomy homework at some point. "Right I'll make sure I remember that one for...when's yours again?" She didn't know what people saw in Firewhisky, then again she'd never really tried it. "Mine's 20th of September," she said. "Ideal present....a slab of that chocolate we tried in Honeydukes. My parents never get me chocolate cause they say I get enough of it at school." She rolled her eyes but grinned, maybe she had a bit too much sometimes.

She turned her attention to the shopkeeper and smiled. "I was wondering what Instruments and Devices you might have that are linked to Astronomy," she explained. "Dad's birthday present."

Jed nodded. "Astronomical instruments are over here," he said, walking over to the display. "I've got a nice selection of telescopes and binoculars. Or if you're looking for something a little more unusual, how about an astrolabe. Or..." He opened the case and took out what looked like a wire ball, with tiny representations of the planets inside. "A clockwork solar system."

If me and Zach been born half an hour earlier, we'd already be in our last year at school. Speaking of Astronomy, though, have you finished the homework yet? If not, maybe we can work on it together."

Angel followed the shopkeeper over to the astronomical instruments and looked at them. "I would buy him a telescope, but I know he got one for Christmas last year," she said eyeing the telescopes. They had really nice ones, but her dad was attached to his one. The astrolabe sounded really interesting but when he showed her the clockwork solar system she knew that was the present. "Wow that's really cool," she admitted. "I think I like that one to be honest. How much is it?"

"Well I'm glad you weren't born half an hour earlier otherwise it would mean only a few months left with you at school instead of a year," she admitted. "I haven't finished it, so working together on it sounds like a good idea." And even more time to spend with him! Today really was her lucky day!

He watched with interest as the girl and boy talked. With his upbringing, he'd missed out on the whole high school dating experience.

Angel wasn't that surprised at the price, like the shopkeeper said it was an antique and the mechanism didn't seem like it would be stopping anytime soon. "It's perfect," she said happily watching the moons and planet orbiting the sun. "I love it. I think I'd like to buy it please," she decided. Her dad would love it, though she'd have to figure out a way to get it to him, without it breaking. She wasn't entirely sure whether her owl would be able to hold it.
