At first Belle seemed amused that he'd come all this way to visit her. But soon Zach felt her melt into his embrace, the tiny moan she let out making him groan softly in response. He brought his hands up to hold her face, as he kissed her deeply, his tongue sliding into her mouth, twining itself around her tongue. He'd been thinking that maybe he should just talk to her, tell her of his fears that he was too young for her. But the intensity of her response pushed all that from his mind.
"Close the shop," he gasped, breaking the kiss. "We'll go upstairs... please, Belle."

Zach breathed out slowly, letting his eyes wander around Belle's bedroom. It was an adult's room, definitely. His own room at home was a disaster area most of the time - not dirty, but he could never take the time to put things away. He sighed. Yet again, he was back to that nagging conviction that this was all wrong, he should be back at school, and Belle should be seeing someone who wasn't a schoolboy.
For a while he just lay there, stroking Belle's arm. It was no good. He would have to say something. He sighed, then said quietly, "Belle. We have to talk."

Belle sighed, relaxing into Zach, stroking her fingers softly over his chest as her cheek rested on his shoulder, her head resting against his neck. She wondered, for a moment, if being with someone else would be more beneficial for her. Whether the time apart from him was making her loopy. She thought it was. Someone she could see all the time would be better. Right? She quickly pushed the thought from her mind. Lovely thing to be thinkinhg after that!
Then, she heard him sigh, then he spoke. She looked up at him. "I don't like that tone," she murmured, but gave him a look to allow him to begin to say what was on his mind.

Zach sighed. Belle obviously sensed that what he was going to say wasn't good. He tried to find the right way to start.
"Belle - what are we... where are we going? I mean, there are - just too many things in our way. I'm just a kid, I'm still at school. I'm not even in my last year. I'm away most of the time, and you - well - you're..." he didn't want to say 'older', that sounded like she was ancient. "You're established. Got your own business, your own apartment. Don't you ever think that - well - maybe you should be seeing someone your own - someone who's not a schoolkid?"

Zach began talking, in a rather stilted way, and Belle sighed. She knew what he was on about. She just let him talk. She turned her face away, looking out the window at the still light sky outside. She sighed again. "I thought we'd been through this already," she murmured quietly, still not looking at him. He was being the adult in this situation. Maybe she was too 'young' for him. "Yeah, sometimes I wish you weren't away so much, but you more than make up for it when we are together. I - I don't know-"

"I know we have," Zach said. This was ridiculous, he felt like a little boy trying to explain why he didn't want his favourite dessert. "Yeah, I make up for it... but that's all we do. We don't just do normal stuff together. We don't really know each other because we're too busy having sex to just talk and - and just be together. I want to be friends, as well as lovers. But it's impossible."
He turned slightly towards Belle, and stroked her face. He didn't want to hurt her. "Belle, I love being with you. But there's just too much getting between us. Don't you see that?"

Don't you see that?" Belle sighed, listening as he fully explained what he was saying. She completely understood. It was a horrible feeling, to be honest. She didn't want to think of it, but he had a point, but she didn't want to listen. He turned towards her to stroke her cheek. "I know," she murmured, looking straight at him. "I just don't want to think about it." She took a few deep breaths. "Is there someone you've met at school?" she asked seriously. Did he have someone else? Was that where all this was suddenly coming from?

Zach could see from Belle's expression that she understood, but didn't want to accept it. When she asked if he'd met someone at school, he shook his head, but unaccountably, he suddenly thought of Nathalie Desjardins. He'd found her crying about one of the students who'd died during the holidays, and he'd comforted her, been kind to her, but it had been nothing more than he'd have done for any other girl. "No. I haven't dated anyone else since that first day we met."
He returned Belle's direct gaze, wishing he could make her understand. "But don't you see, I should be dating a girl at school. Not any particular one, but - someone my own age, who's at the same stage in life, not an adult woman with a totally different kind of life." Zach sat up, looking down at Belle.
"Belle, I'm not doing this because I don't want to be with you. I do, I wish I could be with you all the time. But I can't. We both know that. I think we've always known this couldn't last. Haven't we?"

Belle nodded as he said he hadn't dated anyone else. Well, at least she knew there'd been no infidelity, on either side. As he looked a ther, she sighed, and nodded. "Zach, I get it. And I should be dating someone my age - someone established" She sighed again. This was silly. Then he sat up, and she looked up at him curiously. As he spoke, she nodded and sat up as well, not really caring about her state. He'd seen it all before! "Yes, we have - I just - I just didn't think so soon," she admitted.

Finally it sounded as if Belle was accepting what he was telling her. When she sat up, he had to take a breath; no matter what, he still found her incredibly attractive. "You're beautiful, Belle," he said softly. When she spoke, he nodded. He'd had crazy thoughts about spending the summer with her. But that would just make it worse when they parted in the fall. "I know. But the longer we're together, the worse it will be when we finally break it off." He got off the bed, and began to collect his clothes. "I should go. Get back to school."

As he complimented her, Belle sighed, knowing that was probably the last compliment she was going to get. "I know," she said, nodding her head slightly. She didn't like this. She didn't like this at all. She watched him get up and start picking up his clothes. "Zach please. Don't do this. Not right now," she murmured tearily. "I'm sure the school hasn't even realised you're gone. Please,"

Zach paused, torn by her plea, and hating to see her cry. The truth was, he desperately wanted to stay with her for one last night. Wouldn't it be kinder to just go now, and not draw this out? On the other hand, one more night wouldn't make much difference - would it?
Finally, he tossed his clothes on a chair, and went back to the bed, sitting down beside Belle, and taking her in his arms. "Okay. I'll stay the night. But in the morning I have to leave, and after that, we won't see each other again." He turned her face up to his and kissed her. This was the right choice, surely. They could spend one last night together before they parted for good.

When Zach threw his onto a chair, and sat beside her, Belle snuggled into his arms. "Thank you," she murmured, in regards to him staying. Then he kissed her. She smiled against his lips, returning it softly. After a bit, she broke away, out of his arms. She went behind him, wrapping her arms over his shoulders, and pulling him back up on the bed. She moved from behind him, so he lay back, and she lay down beside him, half on him, and kissed him. She was going to make this last.

Zach lay back down with Belle, glad he'd decided to stay. For this one night, at least, they would be together. Gathering Belle into his arms, he said, "They probably won't miss me at school anyway. And if they do, Aidan will cover for me." He grinned. "Advantage of having an identical twin!"
Suddenly he rolled over, so he was on top of Belle, and he looked down into her eyes. This was going to be a night they would both remember.

Belle smiled and sighed happily as Zach gathered her up into his arms. She chuckled as he spoke. "Yeah, good thing you two get along then hey, or he might rat on you." She poked his chest in tease.
She gasped as he rolled over onto her. She smiled and chuckled softly, looking up at him. "You're amazing. Any girl'll be very lucky to have you," she murmured, before she leant up and kissed him passionately.
