Alycya pulled herself out onto the roof of the Astronomy tower, hugging her arms to her body to cut out the cold. The wind blew her red hair around her face, and shoulders, and blew the ends of her scarf around too. She looked out at the grounds as she sat on the ledge.
She'd been keeping herself busy, taking on extra prefect duties, more classes, more homework, but, she just couldn't help thinking about all her friends that were no longer at school. She had no one left. Ceallach and Danika were in Azkaban, Bella still hadn't surfaced. Not really surprising. She couldn't even imagine losing your boyfriend like that.
And, Caeleb was still on the loose. No one seemed to know how to catch up with him, or even where he was. Again, she sort of sympathised with him. He'd married their ex-Headmistress, then to watch her die would have been horrifying. No one would be able to get over that!
She shivered from more than the cold. She'd tried thinking about all this. Tried to stop thinking about all she'd seen in that battle. Her parents had almost died when they'd found out about it all. She almost didn't come back this year they were so concerned.
And, to be honest, she didn't really trust the new Headmistress. She was likable enough. A bit scarily young-looking for a woman in her fourties, but still. Everyone knew who she was. She had Death Eater ties when she was in Hogwarts, probably bcause she was engaged to Rabastan Lestrange. She was almost a Lestrange, and word is he's been contacting her since his release from Azkaban. Not to be prejudice in anyway, Alycya was a Muggleborn after all, so she didn't like the whole segregation stuff, but Professor Templeton was an Elementalist. From research she'd done, the witches of the Fire element were the most unpredictable, as in line with their element... was that what their Headmistress was going to prove?
Alycya sighed. Her head hurt. Sometimes she wished she didn't think so much. The wind was still whipping her hair around, and her ams were wrapped around her torso in an attempt to stay warm. She just wanted to be alone, but at the same time wanted all her friends back...
