Frankie traipsed into the Hall and took a seat at the table. She put food on her plate and then sat staring at it blankly, suddenly realising she wasn't really hungry. She hadn't even registered what she'd put on her plate. She stared at the sausages and mash and pushed the plate away with a sigh. She felt uncomfortable and wriggled a little in her seat. She sipped some pumpkin juice but turned her nose up at it and placed her goblet back on the table. Nothing seemed to taste good these days. Maybe there was something wring with her. She pondered that thought for a while and fidgeted in her seat again. "What is that?" she exclaimed to herself. She was suddenly aware that the source of her discomfort was due to something digging into her arse and she reached down to see what she was sitting on. "Oh." she muttered as she realised it was something hard and bulky in her pocket. She reached in and retrieved the black stone she'd found in the forest. She stared at it thoughtfully. Why had she picked it up anyway? She turned it over in her hand, admiring the shiny surface. It felt warm in her hands like a healing crystal and her fingers tingled slightly. She thought about putting it back in her pocket but for some reason she just didn't want to.
For the rest of the day the stone never left her palm.

Brogan sat at the Ravenclaw table staring at the choice of food on the table. It was all so bland and stodgy. And not exactly the best money could buy. He resignedly selected some sausages and mashed potatoes and took a bite. His face screwed up. The potatoes were boring at best and the sausages...well they weren't Irish. Enough said. With a sigh he doused his plate with gravy and ate slowly and in protest.
The people weren't much better. He tried to drown out their harsh voices and mundane conversations. Hogwarts was such a dump compared to Dollar. He began piling the mashed potato into a mountain shape and stared at it. He closed his eyes and felt himself fill with despair again. How could his Father do this to him? They hadn't done anything wrong. Not really. Being separated from Emmaline was torture enough, but to be exiled to this place? It was intolerable.

Clear wandered aimlessly into the Great Hall, and plonked herself down at the Ravenclaw table. Not knowing anyone was hard. The people that she had spoken to had only wanted to talk about Sam... and that was NOT what she felt like talking about to people who thought they knew her cousin. Sure, she didn't deny the fact her cousin was a pompous, egotistical teenager, but that's all everyone saw... No one saw the real Sam...
She sighed, and reached for some mashed potatoes and sausages, with a small smile to the guy sitting across from her. She then picked up her fork and cut up her sausages then smushed them into her mashed potatoes. Picking up the gravy boat, she smothered the mash with the dark brown liquid. Then she mixed it all up again. Now the food looked more like what she was used too.
Well... sort of.

Brogan barely noticed the small smile the girl opposite him gave him. And he certainly didn't respond to it. He continued to chew a piece of sausage and washed it down with pumpkin juice. At least the juice was alright. He did notice when the girl began pushing the food around her plate and he smirked. "It's not exactly H'aut Cuisine is it?" he commented scathingly. At least someone else thought the food was as terrible as he did.

"No, not really," she replied, looking back down at her plate. The creation she had concocted looked like an inedible mess on her plate, but truthfully it tasted okay. It was much better than eating it all seperately. "Are you new? Seeing as you're not used to the food?"

Brogan had to grin at the strange pile of mush on the girl's plate. She spoke well, with no obvious hint of an accent. It was a refreshing change from the other students he'd encountered so far. "Er, yeah. I just transferred a few days ago." he replied, unable to keep the distaste out of his tone. He still hadn't quite accepted the reality of his situation and it still all felt like a bad dream. "You don't seem too taken with it yourself." he commented. "How have you put up with it since you were 11?" he asked, his face morphing a look of mild disgust.

Clear laughed slightly at the look on the guy's face, the first time she had done so in a while. "I only got here yesterday," she told him. "Durmstrang." The school's name was said with such a note of utter loathing, the nearest people looked around at her shocked. "Where are you from? I like your accent." The tone of voice quickly changed, like it did often. She didn't like bringing people into her problems, but there was still some things that made her seethe.

Brogan's eyes widened momentarily in surprise. "Oh so you're new to this place too." he said, sounding mildly more enthusiastic. For some reason knowing he wasn't the only outsider made him feel more interested in her. But she had come from Durmstrang, which probably meant this place was a palace to her. It sort of put things in perspective. "I'm Irish." he added, answering her question. "I went to Dollar Academy." he explained. "That is until my Da decided to ship me off." he added with a distinct hint of bitterness.

Clear nodded. "Ahh... knew it was someplace like that. Just couldn't place it," she murmured when he said he was Irish. She'd heard of Dollar Academy. Very exclusive. "Parents have bucketloads of money then," she enquired casually. She knew what it was like to be lumped into that category. Getting into Durmstrang wasn't easy either.
"I was expelled," she said with a shrug of her shoulders.

Brogan smirked when Clear talked about Dollar. It was true he supposed, that most of the students there came from very wealthy families. He'd never thought about it that way, though and it made him partly ashamed. Had he become such a snob? "I guess they are." he said with a softer smile. "I'm not the only one to be sent to Hogwarts though. A few students from Dollar were sent here. I think they've graduated now...or something." He shrugged. He knew exactly where those students were now. Either dead or in Azkaban. He hoped he wouldn't follow their example.
When she said she'd been expelled he put his fork down and stared at her in shock. "Expelled?!" he exclaimed. He studied her a little more closely. She didn't particularly look like a trouble maker, but then looks were deceptive. "What on earth for? If you don't mind me asking?"

"Yeah... wasn't that Ceallach chick from Dollar? She's in Azkaban now, so I hear. Heard about her in the Prophet. And come on... I went to Durmstrang... she's like a hero over there. Stupid egotistical prats." The last part was said as more of a mumble. Any chance Clear got to knock the kids at Durmstrang, she took the opportunity.
She did chuckle though, at the guy's reaction to her telling him she was expelled. "It's not hard to be expelled from there you know. But I like to think I went out in good fashion. A guy crossed me, I found out my cousin had been killed... I lost it, caused school damage, hurt a few people... BAM I'm here." She shrugged. "In a nutshell."
She smiled. "Oh... I'm Clear by the way... Clear Hearn."

Brogan nodded as she mentioned Ceallach. She'd been in the same year as him back in Ireland. "Yeah...I head about that. I would never have pegged her for a Death Eater. Everyone back home was shocked. Her family were...questionable, but she seemed alright." He grinned slightly as she slated the Durmstrang crowd. They were renown world-wide for their support of the dark arts." He listened with sympathy as she told her brief tale. "I'm sorry about your Cousin. If someone I loved was killed, I'd lose it too." he thought about asking what happened to him, but it seemed insensitive. Instead he just held out his hand. "Pleased to meet you. I'm Brogan Sullivan."

Clear shrugged her shoulders as he said he was sorry about Sam. "He was Ravenclaw Quidditch Captain... I'm sure you'll hear about him... He was quite a hit around here," she replied, with a small reminiscent smile.
"Brogan. I like that name. It's different... It's nice." Kind of like Clear, she supposed. "Why were you sent here? If you don't mind me asking..."

Brogan shook his head as Clear mentioned her cousin. He'd not heard of him. He must have died during the Battle last Summer. He felt a stab of sympathy for her. A lot of people had lost loved ones. He felt lucky.
As she asked why he was at Hogwarts his face contorted into a slightly painful expression. "Oh...my Father sent me here. We had a disagreement about who I should and shouldn't be seeing. He sent me away to...well it's complicated." he said sheepishly. He wasn't quite ready to talk about Emmaline yet. He felt his heart would shatter if he even said her name right now. "So...what do you make of this place so far?" he asked, changing the subject.
