Homework Assignment One.
Please PM the assignments to me (*evilorangebunny*) by 11:59 PM EDT, August 7th 2008. Late assignments will not be accepted.
1) What is an Astronomical Unit? (2 points) 2) How many constellations are there? (1 point) 3) what are the two largest constellations? Astronomy Lesson 2 Homework.Please PM the homework to me, include your user name, your character's name, and their house. The homework is due by the next class - so you've got quite a while to do it. 1) Explain how it is possible to tell the time using the phase of the moon and its position in the sky. If a Full Moon is directly overhead, approximately what time is it? 2) Using the year 2008 as an example, demonstrate how the date of Easter is calculated by the moon. 3) Define a Blue Moon and a Black Moon. 4) Provide a list of Full Moon names that is different from the listgiven in the textbook, stating the culture/region that uses it. State briefly whether you think each name is appropriate. 5) Define the following: a) Spring Tide b) Neap Tide c) Proxigean Spring Tide 6) Define the following: a) Mariab) Terrae c) Impact Craters
(Except for #4 you should find all the answers in the textbook!)

ASTRONOMY LESSON 3
The next astronomy lesson will start on OCTOBER 14th
Please read Chapters 6 (Tides) and 7 (The Solar System) in preparation for the lesson.
NOTE: so far, only ONE person has submitted their homework from the last class. The rest of you therefore have a week to complete and submit it. Students who have signed up since the last class ARE expected to complete the homework. The questions are repeated below for your convenience.
Penalties will apply for anyone who does not complete the homework. Housepoints may be deducted. And the owlery needs cleaning again!
