The corridor in the Towers, leading to the Ravenclaw Common Room, the Astronomy Classroom and the Owlery.

Astrid left the common room and headed out into the corridor, she played around with her bag, trying to make sure it didn't break on her. Although with all the textbooks and stuff she had in there it was only a matter of time. She found a spot and set down her bag, then sat down. She opened her bag up, taking out her notebook, and began to look over a couple of her old poems.

Adam walked slowly up the stairs to the tower corridor, on his way outside. He tended to come up here a lot. He liked to be alone. He looked around, and saw a girl sitting on the floor. Interesting place to sit, he thought to himself. "Hey. I don't think I've met you before," he said, smiling at her. He thought he may have seen her around. But, just because he'd been here since first year, didn't mean he knew everyone!

"Astrid Smith, 7th year Ravenclaw." Astrid said quite formally as she introduced herself, looking up at the boy who was talking to her. She set her notebook down in her lap for the time being because she figured that she wouldn't be doing much reading now.

"Ah. That would explain why I don't know you," Adam said, his smile still in place, but he was sort of baffled by her formality. "Adam Samson. 6th year Gryffindor," he said, mirroring her formal tone. It sounded funny coming from him. He was infinately laid back. "Can I join you?"

"Pleasure to meet you Adam" She said with a smile playing about her lips. "Sure, I was just here doing some reading anyways, nothing important." Astrid said, closing her notebook. She never figured that she'd meet anyone here, usually she's just by herself, writing more poems in her notebook.

Adam smiled, sitting down beside her. "What were you reading?" he asked, trying to make small talk. He wasn't very good at this. He wasn't nervous around girls. He just didn't have much practice at it all.

"Oh I was just reading some of the poems I wrote a few years ago, I just like to read my own work since its original" Astrid said, putting her hands in her lap on top of the notebook. Course she rarely let anyone else read her work, she felt like it was just odd for someone else to read what she had written.

Adam nodded his head, impressed. "Fair enough. It's nice up here to do things like that. I write myself. Stories, mostly. What sort of poems do you write?" he asked. Finally, someone that appreciated the writing process. Mostly people around here drew, no one wrote.

"I write poetry that's pretty much based entirely on emotion, nothing else which explains why its so deep" Astrid said. She never thought that anyone else wrote anyone here, but she was known to be wrong as was just proved.

Adam listened, nodding his head. "Sounds good. I'm stuck on children's stories at the moment. My cousins seem to like them. I'd like to be able to write things with a bit more depth, but I just can't seem to finish anything," he said, a slight note of frustration in his voice.

"To be able to write things with depth, takes a lot of emotion as well as talent and creativity. You have to switch from one medium to the other as far as writing goes." Astrid said, she could sense Adam's frustration and wasn't sure what else she could tell him to help.

Adam shrugged. "Yeah, but writing a story is different to writing a poem. I'm not going to say it's harder, because it's not. They are equal in that regard. You just have to know where everything fits in. The characters, the settings, each individual plot. And, something like i keep trying to write, is massive longer than a poem," he commented.

"Well, if you want to write something a lot deeper as a story, then you'll need to move out of the writing children's stories. Like poetry, you need to have plenty of emotion, talent and creativity as well as some sort of inspiration to write something that's deep." Astrid said, leaning her head back against the wall with a smile.

Adam sighed. Was she listening at all? And, was she repeating herself? "I have tried to move away from children's stories. Multiple times. But I can never finish. I just run out of inspiration. Maybe I need a muse," he said, shrugging his shoulders, grinning slightly. The concept of a muse had always amused him. Be interesting if it worked!
