Bella watched him for a few moments and then a sense of satisfaction overcame her as he turned back to face her. "Okay wrong choice of words," she said softly knowing if she got as riled it would only end wrong. "what I meant was I had no way of contacting you myself. My owl was sick and since I didn't fully know how to heal her I left it. And my patronus isn't strong enough yet to send a message to you all the way in Scotland. I missed hearing from you just as much, believe me. I know I should've popped in and said hi, and I'm extremely sorry that I didn't."
She smiled softly hearing that she wasn't as bad as a deatheater. Coming from him in his current temper, that was basically a compliment. No I don't because you haven't spoken to me she thought but didn't say a word as she listened to him. "Wait Ellie's being threatened?! She's pregnant?!" All she had known was that Ellie had been ill recently, not anything else and she was normally the first to hear gossip. "Andrew it isn't your fault, she could've said no to either one or she could've decided not to join. Have you told Serena about this?" If Kildara heard the hintest of threats it was bad news it wouldn't be good for either Ellie or her child that she was carrying. She frowned as she heard that Andrew was still thinking about her, and she knew it wasn't just as friends. "I know the engagement's sudden and I know you dislike Sam with a passion," she said softly, her voice not raising at all. "But please, I miss our conversations. Our laughs that we have together. I don't want you to completely ignore me that's all." Looking up as she heard his sigh she nodded, and lifted the spell from his broom. "Congratulations though Andrew, to you and Ellie. If the child's anything like its parents, it'll be wonderful." She gave him a smile and then flew off, allowing him to have some piece, knowing he deserved some.

Andrew fiddled with the handle of his broom as Bella spoke his thoughts turning over what had happened during the holidays. It still seemed so surreal though. Like he'd wake up to find this was all a dream. "Yea, you should have. My mum was right disappointed, she made those sweets you love so much."
His eyes grew wide, Hadn't he told her? It then dawned on him that he had found out during the holidays and hadn't told her because she hadn't stopped by. "Yea...she is and yes she was threatened. By the headmaster." He didn't have the foggiest idea what he was going to do about either case. He didn't know how to be a dad, he barely knew how to be himself and even then that was a little questionable now. He shook his head, "No, Bella, it is my fault. She didn't even have that thought at all until I suggested it. It was after the whole mess with Raven...I was just trying to be friendly, I wasn't really serious and then...she said she did it." He sighed and ran his hand over his face. "No, I haven't told her. Ellie just told me earlier." He laughed hollowly, "A passion is putting it nicely, Bel. I loathe the idiot." He sighed and nodded, "Alright, alright. I'll...try." That was all he could offer her, that he would try. He knew it was a mistake because the best way to solve his issues were to cut her out all together from his life but he couldn't do that. He cared about her. He laughed to himself, I must be a masochist. To put myself through this over and over again.
He felt his broom relax and knew that she had taken the spell off. "Thanks," he said softly. He shifted his weight to take off and felt something in his pocket. He knew what it was instantly he had been caring it around since he had arrived to give to her but never had the intention of talking to her. Digging in his pocket he pulled out a small box and handed it to her, "This is your Christmas gift. Since you didn't come over I thought I'd give it to you here but I....forgot. It's nothing special just something I made." Well the carving of the Ravenclaw was actually something he had been working on for months, since before Ellie, but he didn't say anything. He nodded with a rather forced smile and flew down to the ground and headed back inside. So much for flying. Maybe the lake would be better.

Bella's face fell as she heard that his mum had made her favourite sweets especially for her. Why did he have to make her feel guilty? She was meant to be making him feel guilty for not talking to her. "I'll send her an owl apologising for my absence. I know I should've tried harder to get in contact with you all. Plus I have their presents in my trunk." She had his present in there as well come to think of it.
"Hmm well that's another reason to hate the witch," Bella muttered under her breath her brows furrowing in concentration. It wasn't fair that Dara found out now. Not when Ellie had a child on the way, although that probably gave Dara another reason to hate Ellie at the moment considering she'd lost her own. "Don't worry it isn't fully your fault and Ellie has the choice at any time to stop if she feels it's too dangerous. When Serena finds out that Ellie's pregnant, she'll be more careful asking her to do stuff." Or she will once I've finished talking to her. Hearing Andrew's comment against Sam, she sighed wishing that for once both of her favourite guys would like each other. Then again, that would be like asking Voldemort to love Harry Potter. "That's all I ask. And believe me, I'm not asking you to talk to me if Sam's around if you don't want to. I just want to talk to you alone from time to time that's all."
She smiled at him, knowing that he would probably want to be alone, but wanted to watch him fly off. He was just as talented on a broomstick as Sam, although neither would love the comparison. Looking at the box in his hand she took it carefully, balancing her weight out she began opening it, listening to Andrew at the same time. "It's beautiful Andrew! Thank you," exclaimed Bella. "It is special mister and I won't hear anything else." The bird was wonderfully carved and she knew that no matter what Andrew said, he had spent a lot of time and care on it. The meaning behind it touched her and once again she felt guilty for not contacting over the holidays. "You'll find your present on your bed later on today. I didn't know exactly when we'd get to talk so I didn't give it to you."
She watched him fly back to the grounds and then smiled to herself. At least they were talking again, that was all she wanted. Being in the air was amazing and she kept flying a bit longer, loving the wind caressing her curls as she did tricks in the air. After practicing for around an hour, she flew back to the ground, dirt and sweat glistening over her body and made for the broom shed before heading to the Prefect bathroom, needing a good shower before she did anything else.

Andrew walked out onto the pitch carrying his broom and the Quidditch balls so that he could practice. He would be eternally grateful for Professor Pettigrew's understanding of his current situation and changing him from Prefect to Quidditch Captain. He kept replaying the scene out on the lawns with Bella in his head. He had been stupid of course he wanted to still be friends with Bella. Wasn't that one of the reasons he hadn't done this before? He couldn't be happy without her in his life in some way. But the damage she'd done to their friendship was such that nothing would bring it back. He couldn't get hurt again.
With a sigh he opened the trunk and pulled out the Quaffle. Hoping on his broom he sped up and sat there in mid-air. Even flying wasn't as much fun anymore. He sighed and threw the Quaffle up in the air and caught it. Ellie, lets focus on Ellie. He was worried about her. She didn't seem to be getting any better.

Raven carried her bag in one hand and her broom in the other, it had been awhile since she was up flying and it was just so calming to her. She set her bag down and mounted her broom, kicking off the ground and flying up into the air. She missed this the most when she left, the freedom of being in the air, just flying around.

Chris walked out onto the pitch, and mounted his broom. As he kicked off and rose into the air, he felt his customary thrill. Ever since he'd started at Hogwarts, he'd loved flying. He'd never made a team, but that didn't matter, just to be up in the air on his broom was enough. He looked around and noticed Raven flying nearby, so he steered his broom over to her. He hadn't spoken to her since she asked him to the Ball, and he was a bit nervous, but he figured she must like him if she'd asked him. "Hi," he said as he caught up with her. "Are you practicing for a game?"

"No, I'm just flying. I find it very calming to feel the wind blowing through your hair and just see the scenery around the castle from really high up." Raven said and smiled, she felt a warm pink blush rise up from her neck and she looked away slightly.

Chris nodded. "I know what you mean. Some days I still find it amazing that we can fly. I'm muggle-born, I'd never even heard of Quidditch before I came here." Was she blushing? He was actually making a girl blush? This was new territory for him. He was friends with lots of girls, but he'd never been on a date! "Want to fly over the lake? Some days it's clear enough to see the giant squid swimming around."

"Okay, let's go then, try to keep up!" Raven said with a laugh then she shot through the air like a bullet. She was naturally good at flying, it was in her blood, as was the same with Quidditch. She was definately glad to be back at Hogwarts now that she had everything figured out.

Chris grinned as Raven suddenly shot away, flying fast. She seemed such a natural at it. It must be an advantage to have grown up with it, he'd practiced as much as he could, but he didn't think he'd get good enough to make the Quidditch team. He flew after her, enjoying the view. And not just the countryside!

Raven stopped when she reached the lake and then shot up high into the sky, this was a trick she used to do all the time, you started off as high as you could get and then you shoot down and weave through the sky. It always scared the living hell out people she used to perform the trick in front of.

Chris looked up, watching as Raven shot high into the sky. He didn't mind heights, but that was pretty high up. Then she turned and began to plummet back down, weaving as she went. He watched, horrified. Was she out of control? Was she going to end up in the Black Lake? Could she swim? He didn't know what to do

Raven started weaving up and down through the air, with a huge smirk playing about her lips, she loved the feel of the adrenaline pumping through her body as she pulled off this trick. She stopped and shot back up, leveling herself out to be even with Chris.

With relief, Chris saw that Raven was pulling up level with him. "That was amazing! I guess you must have been flying all your life. You're really good," he told her. He didn't think he'd be able to pull off that trick himself, even if he had the nerve to try. Okay, he probably did have the nerve to try - but not with Raven watching. He didn't mind half-killing himself, but he didn't want to make a fool of himself in front of her!

"Its in my blood actually, my parents and my brother all played Quidditch and were naturally good at flying. I've been practicing that trick for a few years now, course the first few times I did it, I ended up crashing into the pitch and breaking my arm and my left leg" Raven said and laughed. She remembered that day all too well, she had the scars to remember it.
