Welcome to Care of Magical Creatures lesson 1
Professor Hegwig is waiting for you all in the Paddock. Try not to be late, we have a walk ahead of us.

Angel walked down to the paddock quickly. She loved this lesson and was surprised to hear that it was Krysta's brother who was going to be teaching them. "Hello Professor Hedwig," she said happily a smile on her face. "Are you enjoying Hogwarts?"

Nathalie arrived at the paddock, wondering what they would be studying today. She was also curious to see their new professor. She saw Angel already there. "Hi Angel, how are you?" she said to the fellow 5th year.

Simon smiled broadly as Angel arrived at the gate. He pulled it open for her.
"Hi there!" he exclaimed. "It's Angel isn't it?" he asked uncertainly. "Krys talks about her friends a lot." he explaind with a grin. He looked around as the other girl arrived. He didn't recognise her but he gave her a hearty smile anyway, holding the gate open for her too.
"Welcome to class, girls. You're the first two to arrive." he told them.

"Hey Nathalie," Angel said seeing her Ravenclaw friend walking down. "I'm fine thanks. A bit windswept but I was flying earlier." She definitely enjoyed being on a broom, almost as much as she like riding, but she could always rely on horses. "How are you doing? Have a nice Christmas?"
Hearing the Professor speak her name, she nodded with a small confused smile, that turned into a grin as he explained. "Let's just say this lesson is one of my two favourites on my timetable," she explained. Animals were amazing and really cool to learn about.

Rose practically skipped all the way down to the paddock, she loved Care of Magical Creatures and couldn't wait to begin. She waved at the other 5th years and smiled at the teacher. This was going to be exciting.

"Windswept is a good look on you," she teased. "My Christmas? Oh, the usual. My parents entertaining all over the place, and my sisters going wild with excitement. Oh, and the usual gift of a Passion Killer nightgown from my mother. The first thing I'm going to do next Hogsmeade visit is buy something a bit less Victorian! So how about you, did you do anything fun in the holidays?" |

Kelly slipped in through the paddock gate. Even Care of Magical Creatures had lost it's magic, though it was still her favourite lesson. "Good morning, professor" she sneered at him. "How's Emilia?" she sent her a thought, full of sarcasm.

"Pleased to meet you Nathalie." he replied with a smile. He laughed as Rose skipped into the Paddock. "Someone's enthusiastic. Good, good, that's what I like to see." he said with a grin. His smile slippeda little when he saw Kelly. He nodded to her in a friendly manner.
"Hello Kelly. How are you?" he asked, sincerely. It had been a long time since he'd seen her. He tried to ignore the message she put in his mind. This wasn't the time or place for it.

Krys ran down to the paddock afraid she was going to be late for Simon's first lesson. She wasn't late, but a few others were there already. She grinned at him as she pushed the gate open.
Morning Professor!" she said loudly with a huge grin. He shook his head at her and she just laughed. She saw Kelly and ignored her completely, closing her mind off tightly. She saw Angel and Rose and walked over to them.
"How cool is this?" she said, giggling a little. She looked at Nathalie. "Hi, I don't think we've met. I'm Krysta." she said, offering her hand.

Caeleb sauntered into the Paddock and gave Simon a curt nod. He'd never actually met Simon before. He'd been in Romania the whole time he had known Krysta. He didn't know how much she had told him so he was on his guard. Simon's nod seemed friendly, though so he relaxed slightly.
He looked around the group of girls and smirked when he saw Krys, talking to some younger girls. His eyes locked briefly onto Kelly and the torrent swirled angrily. He walked over to her, towering over her before speaking.
"When's this bloody little tattoo of yours going to vanish?" he demanded, holding up his wrist and displaying the wolf symbol.

Jazmyn walked down to the paddock, eagerly anticipating the class. Care of Magical Creatures was her forte. She'd blitzed it in Australia. She looked around at the clas. She didn't know anyone, so she stayed on the outer a little bit. She gave Professor Hedwig a nod in hello, and sighed, waiting for the class to begin, or someone to notice her.

"I know Krys, this is awesome! I'm sure your brother will be a wonderful teacher!" Rose exclaimed. "I love this class. Look, is that another new kid?" she asked, noticing Jazmyn. "I'm going to go sat hello." she said, walking over to the new hufflepuff.
"Hi!" she said, smiling. "I'm Rose Scarlett, 5th year Ravenclaw, you are?"

Jazmyn looked up and smiled as the younger girl walked up. "Heya. I'm Jazmyn Harper. 7th Year Hufflepuff," she said, letting out a sigh, when she realised she did in fact have an accent. A deep ocher sounding Australian accent. How embarrassing! |

Simon looked around at the group of students and clapped his hands together loudly to get their attention.
"Alright, everyone, I think there are still a few people to join us yet, but I think we ought to make a start." he announced. He smiled around at all of them. "For those of you who don't know me already, my name is Professor Simon Hedwig and I shall be taking you for Care of Magical Creatures this term. he explained, introducing himself. "Now this may be my first teaching job, but don't let that make you think you can mess me about. I used to run a Dragon colony so if I can handle angry Horntails, I can handle you lot. I believe in the enforcement of fair rights so let me lay some ground rules right now:
1) there will be no bullying, name-calling, intimidation or discrminatory behaviour of any kind in my class
2) you shall treat all animals I show you with due respect and care
3) If I am talking, you shall not be, and finally
4) If I give you an order you shall follow it quickly and to the letter. That is most important. Some of the creatrure I shall be showing you this year are classed as dangerous, therefore you shall do exactly as I instruct with no exception. Is everybody clear on those rules?" he asked looking around at all the students.
