"Nice to meet you Amanda. Has your family moved to England then? I've always wanted to visit Canada, but the only place my mother considers suitable for travel is the south of France. How do you like Hogwarts so far?" Nathalie was always a bit envious of anyone who had traveled more than she had.

"Yes, my family moved to England just around Christmas time, I had to have my file sent over here so they knew about my marks and what courses I was taking" She said. "Hogwarts is a lot nicer than my old school, its not as strict and I actually am allowed to fly on my broom here" She said, with a soft smile.

Nathalie nodded. "We have a lot of freedom here. Outside lessons they pretty much let us organize our own lives. And the food is wonderful." She grinned - she had to admit she was always a bit of a pig her first few days back, after the plain, tasteless fare that Mother considered suitable for the 'nursery'.
At the mention of flying, she asked, "Do you play Quidditch at all? I love it, though I'm not good enough for the house team. But people who aren't on teams often have pick-up games. If we have too many people, the extras just play as extra Chasers. You're welcome to join us any time we're playing."

"Yes I do play Quidditch, I was a Chaser for my house team at my old school as well as a Prefect, though I caused more trouble than I helped stop" She said and laughed. "That would be cool, I can always use the extra practice" She said and smirked. "I have the newest Firebolt as my broom, course that's one of the reasons I'm so good at Quidditch" Amanda added to her previous statement.

"Yes, it does help to some extent. But not enough - I have a new Firebolt too, but I'm still not good enough for the team." She grinned. "Father gave it to me for my birthday. I think he did it to annoy Mother, she hates that I play Quidditch. Of course, she hates most things." Nathalie paused as her owl decided to walk from one shoulder to the other, wincing slightly as his claws dug in to her neck. Then she smiled apologetically. "I suppose I shouldn't talk that way about them - but really, they can be such pains, always doing little things to annoy each other."

"Ah well, your parents cannot be as bad as mine are, they consider me to be a devil child and they don't even talk to me, they just pretend like they don't even have a 16 year old girl who's quite the powerful witch" She said and rolled her eyes,

"That's awful," Nathalie agreed. "Though sometimes I wish Mother wouldn't talk to me! Father's not too bad, most of the time, but Mother just loves to think up ways to make me and mys sisters miserable. And they both see me as just a tempting morsel to offer in the marriage stakes. I'm sure they already have their eyes on someone rich and powerful they'd like to have as a son-in-law."

"Well that's terrible!" She said softly. "So, how long have you been at Hogwarts for?" She asked curiously. She was picking up interesting vibes from Natalie and her eyes looked around the area before fixing onto Natalie's eyes, it was a habit for her to look inside someone's eyes to see if there was anything going on with them that they weren't telling.

"Oh, since First Year. All my family have been coming here for centuries." She saw Amanda glancing round, then staring at her. It made her slightly uncomfortable, as if she was trying to do Legilimency on her. She glanced away. Not that she had anything to hide. Well... maybe that. But even that was fairly harmless, lots of girls her age had crushes. It would just be a bit humiliating if it got out...
"Let's keep walking," she said, turning to stroll along the lake. "It's pretty cold out here." As they walked, she said, "So - umm - what's your favourite subject?"

"Hmm, my favourite subject definately has to be Potions. I am naturally good at it, and I was top of my house for grades at my old school in Potions. What about you?" She said and walked along the lake with Natalie, a bit sorry that she hadn't wore her warm winter cloak out since it was quite cold.

Nathalie watched as her owl flew off again, then grinned. "It's going to sound weird, but I really like History of Magic. I love reading about history. My Father has a huge library and I'm allowed to read any of his books except the once that are locked up. And I like Quidditch, and Arithmancy. Potions is okay, but I'm not all that good at it." She threw an owl nut into the air, and watched as Jasper came diving down to catch it. "Are you signed up for Ancient Runes?" she asked.

"I have had an strong interest in that class, I have taken it and I had enjoyed it. So I might take it while I'm here. Hmm..Ancient Runes, I never really understood that, unless if I signed up, you could help me out" She said with a soft smile, shivering slightly from the cold.

Nathalie returned her smile. "Sure I can help you. I haven't actually taken Ancient Runes before at school, but I've read about it at home." She noticed that Amanda was shivering. "Do you want to go back in. I was just out here visiting my owl, but I think he's gone off to hunt."

"Um, nah I'll be alright" She said with a smirk. "Hmm, well, then I guess I'll be taking Ancient Runes as well this term" Amanda said laughing, she looked down and noticed that her shoe was untied and she bent down to retie it, the back of her top lifting slightly, exposing part of the tattoo she had on her lower back. Amanda's tattoo

Nat caught sight of something on Amanda's back. "Is that a tattoo?" she asked. She was half-shocked, half-impressed. She'd heard about them, but had never actually seen one... well, unless you counted the Dark Mark she'd seen on one of Father's visitors one time, when they hadn't realized she was reading in a dark corner of the library...
