Ravenclaw Common Room

Just sit back and relax with your friends, or take advantage of your free time to get ahead of some homework. The Common Room features many couches, armchairs and tables to serve every purpose. Please admire the statue of Rowena Ravenclaw at the entrance, 'Wit beyond measure is a man's greatest treasure', and the stars painted in the ceiling.

Sam walked into the Common Room and threw himself down on the couch by the fire. He was happy to be back at Hogwarts for his final year. He wasn't happy it was his final year, he was just happy to be back. He looked over to the Bulletin Board and read the notice on it. I might apply he thought to himself, indifferently. He sunk back into the chair and sighed. It was good to be back.

Isabella walked into the common room, after speaking to the portrait for a few minutes. She loved being back, it was like her home away from home. Plus, considering her OWL results, she was on cloud nine, especially as her family in Italy had sent her some new clothes. The skirt she was wearing now was one of them. "Hey Sam, nice summer?" she asked, noticing the Quidditch Captain.

Sam looked up as Bella entered the Common Room. He smiled as she spoke to him.
"Hey Bella. Yeah, my summer was okay. How was yours?" he asked. Not really wanting to explain why his was only okay.

"Mine wasn't that bad actually," Bella said smiling as she sat on the arm of the couch. "I did well on my OWLs and went on holiday to Italy to see my aunt and uncle. Oh and my brother's moved out with his girlfriend so I now have the big bedroom." She wanted to know what was wrong with Sam but she knew not to ask. He'd tell her if he wanted her to know.

Sam smiled up at her and sunk back into the couch. Her holidays always sounded so exciting. He always went home and listened to his parents fighting. Fun fun.
"That sounds great. I bet you love having the big bedroom." he laughed.

Bella pretended to think for a moment before nodding and laughing, "It does hold more clothes that's for sure. And more books. Oh that reminds me," she reached into her bag and pulled out a book. "this is for you. It's a book about Italian Quidditch teams, thought you might like it. Take your mind off other things."

Sam smiled as he watched her pretend to think. He laughed when she spoke about clothes. He was rather shocked when she handed him a book.
"Thanks Bella. You really didn't have to," he said, blushing slightly as he took the book.
"So are you trying out for Quidditch this year?" he asked, skimming through the glossy pages of the book, a smile on his face.

"I thought you might like it," Bella said spotting the happiness in his eyes. The blush didn't go unnoticed either. "Don't worry I've already got one, and anyways, I thought the Ravenclaw Quidditch Captain might like to know about other Quidditch teams around the world." She nodded when asked about tryouts, "I was thinking I might this year. Either chaser or seeker are my favourite positions, but I'll be whatever you tell me to be."

Sam smiled. "Well, I play Seeker. So a Chaser wouldn't go unwanted. We had an old team, so we basically need an entire knew team!" he exclaimed, still flicking through the pages of the book.

"Well then I'll tryout for Chaser," Bella said. She watched Sam, she hadn't seen him happy for ages. The book had definitely been a good idea. "Don't worry our team'll be the best...as soon as we have tryouts."

Sam smiled. "Yeah," he nodded. "I'm not really worried about the teams so much, it's one individual player I still can't beat." he sighed. He really needed to practice. He had thought his new broom would get him the extra speed he needed but after that day on the pitch with Dani he wasn't so sure.
"Danika is still the best Seeker Hogwarts has seen since Harry Potter. I got the new Firebolt for Christmas and she's still faster than me. I thought it'd give me an advantage, make me faster. But we had a little race and she caught the Snitch first. Even on her old Firebolt. I dunno," he sighed. She was the only thing he was worried about. He was the second best Seeker in the school, but she was the best. And that meant he couldn't beat her.

"Don't worry about Danika," Isabella said. "There'll come a day when her confidence is a bit to high and she'll falter on something simple and then you'll be able to catch the snitch. And anyways, a team winning doesn't rely on just the seeker does it? Sure the 150 points helps, but it's a team Sam, we win and lose as a team." She smiled, Danika was fast that bit was for sure, but Sam had brains, speed, strength and good looks. Things were in his favour.

Sam smiled. "I suppose. But do you actually watch games she plays? She can catch the Snitch before anyone has had a chance to score. She plays with the other Seeker. I know you are making me feel better Bella, but she's good." At more than just Quidditch he sighed to himself. "Apart from a good team, I 've got nothing else going for me," he sighed heavily.

Bella frowned, the boy was obviously blind that had to be it. Sam was blind, even if he was reading the book on Quidditch teams in Italy. "Sam you do have stuff going for you," she said. "You will have a good team, you have good looks, strength, brains, a fantastic broom which I envy, and a whole bunch of friends who like you for you." She took a deep breathe; she hadn't yelled like that in ages. "sorry, I just don't like seeing you down," she said softly.
