Bella walked into the dungeons and smiled, this was the best place to practice without being caught. "Right first things first is all a nonverbal is is saying the spell in your mind instead of out loud. The more difficult part is that you have to connect your mind to your wand, which means you have to mean the words you say for the charm to work."

"Okay, why don't you give me an example of an appropriate non-verbal spell?" Raven asked, drawing her wand once again.

"Right," Isabella said drawing her own wand. "I'm going to show you two. One with me doing it properly and then other with me not fully concentrating on what I want to happen." She raised her wand and immediately thought Expelliarmus while also thinking about Sam. Nothing happened, the wand didn't even twitch which it normally did if she was thinking about something else. "Okay maybe thinking of Sam, makes nothing happen at all," she said out loud laughing a little.
"Right this time I am going to concentrate fully," she told Raven. Expelliarmus she thought as she moved her wand, causing Raven's to come shooting into her waiting hand. "See? If you don't concentrate nothing will happen and then you're stuck because you haven't caused any damage."

"Alright, can I have my wand back to try?" Raven asked politely. She wanted to try this so badly.

"Of course," Bella replied tossing the wand back to Amanda. "Don't worry if you can't get it immediately, you're only a fifth year, and this is sixth year work."

Raven concentrated, Expelliarmus she thought and moved her wand. It didn't move Bella's wand at all, so she tried again. Aguamenti she thought and moved her wand, a stream of water came out of Raven's wand and soaked Bella.

Isabella smiled as Raven tried a nonverbal, judging from the fact that nothing happened she realised that it hadn't worked. "Don't worry Amanda, try again," she encouraged. She waited for a moment and then screamed in shock as a jet of water hit her, soaking her hair and her clothes. "That is the second time in less then two days that i've been soaked," she excalimed drying her clothes with a wave of her wand. "But guess what, it means that you did a nonverbal spell! Well done! Try another one, no more water please."

Raven laughed but was proud of herself that she learnt non-verbals. Expelliarmus she thought and moved her wand causing Bella's wand to come into her other hand.

Bella smiled as she heard Raven laugh. Well at least she provided entertainment for someone. She watched with a small sense of pride as her wand flew out of her hand and landed in Raven's. "Well done, you've just learnt a bit of sixth year magic," Bella said pointing her finger at her wand and summoning it back to her waiting hand. "Now you should be more evenly matched if an older student tries to duel you."

"Thanks Bella, I promise I won't use non-verbals unless I need to" Raven said, smiling, putting her wand away.
