Professor Pettigrew's Office

[Emilia Pettigrew]

As Emilia heard Kitania's voice, she relaxed. She turned to her with a smile "Well, you now I'm on a strict diet, but oh well, you talked me into it." She conjured two armchairs and a table, placing them in front of the fireplace. She took a seat in one of those "Come on then, have a seat. Can't sleep? Is there something bothering you?" she asked, while conjuring two tea cups and a kettle.

Kit grinned and sank into one of the chairs. She waved her wand and a pot of coffee and two mugs appeared.
"Can't have doughnuts without coffee." she announced matter-of-factly. "God, I sound American!" she exclaimed in mock horror as she poured herself some coffee.
"Nah, I've just had one of those days. I got interrupted mid meditaton and it left me a bit disorientated...not to mention bruised." she added, rubbing her hip where she had fallen on it earlier.
"How come you're up so late?" she asked, taking a bite of doughnut.

"Yeah, I'll stick with tea still. You know, the special kind" Emilia replied winking at Kit. "Someone dared to interupt you in the middle of your meditation? I think you were in a good mood today, cause I didn't hear anyone getting killed" she laughed a little and took a sip of her tea. "Well, most important, I'm waiting a letter from mum and tomorrow's going to be a full moon. You now I can't sleep before that, even if I wanted to." She had relaxed and she managed to take her teacup without her hands shaking.

Kit's eye's widened with comprehension.
"Oh of course. Sh*t." she said, allowing her language to slip now the students were in bed. She eyed the pot of tea with a mixture of suspicion and wickedness.
"How special?" she asked with a sly smile.
She yawned and stretched her arms high above her head, then giggled.
"Sorry." she said with a grin. "How is your Mum these days?" she asked, sincerely interested. She realised all of sudden how much she really missed Emilia. They had once been friends after all.

Kelly laughed "It's very special. So speacial, it makes me want to sleep for a few days. Wolfsbane potion." She watched as Kit stretched herself. "What on earth are you apologizing for. Oh, mum is quite good. She was overjoyed when I told her I left the Order. You know how she is, she always wanted me to follow their footsteps. Though it made her worry, how others may take it. She has even asked me about you, you have been one of her favourites. She's actually worrying a lot these days." Kelly looked at her teacup. She was worried too.

Kit smiled sadly as she listened about Emilia's Mother. She had no idea that the older lady had cared for her like that. She put down her doughnut and wiped the stray crystals of sugar from her lips. She looked at Emilia seriously for a moment.
"Emilia, I'd never hurt you...unless you gave me a bloody good reason to." she said with a wistful smile. She tilted her head to one side and looked at the teapot thoughtfuly before speaking aain.
"I'm not angry with you, you know. I never was." she said softly, looking into her old friend's face with sincerity. "I was just very sad...to lose a friend." she said and to her horror and dismay she found she had water in her eyes. She quickly blinked it away and sipped her coffee, staring at the table.

Emilia smiled at Kit, as she spoke "You know very well, that I'll try to avoid hurting you too. It's the last thing I'd want to do." She glanced outside for a moment, hoping that she'd seen an owl, but there was nothing. She turned back to Kit and saw the sadness in her eyes "What are you talking about? You haven't lost me, have you! If you had, we wouldn't be here, talking." She looked into her eyes "I'll try to be there for you, until it doesn't mean I have to break my promises to Kildara. You are always welcomed at our house and if I can help you with anything, I'll do that." She then heard a howl, which made her jump. There was an owl behind the window. She jumped up and almost ran to it. She took the letter it was carrying and read it through quickly, letting out a quiet sigh. She turned back to Kit, smiling "You can read it, I
ve got nothing to hide from you" It said :

Emilia !

You haven't failed. If it had to go this way, then it's not your fault. Kelly isn't a lot different from us. It's only a matter of time, before she reveals her dark side fully. I have taken care of the house and even owled Sylvia, but I don't think she'll care about it. She has cut herself away from us and I'm not complaining. She is not a daughter of mine.

I hope you are alright. All this worrying hasn't done a good job to my heart. It's nice to hear from you and know that you're thinking about me. I was just wondering, how is miss Walker these days? I heard she was teaching at Hogwarts too and just wondering, why she hasn't been visiting us. I'll have to go now, you're sister just came home and she probably wants to know what's been happening. She was away in Belgrad for some time, but that's not important. Love you lots and waiting to hear from you.

Kit smiled warmly as Emilia spoke. Her words meant a lot.
She took the letter and read it with a grave expression on her face. When she had finished she carefully folded it up and handed it back to Emilia. For a moment she just stared at the wall, not sure how to approah this. Finally she took a deep breath and decided to tell the truth...or some of it at least.
"Emilia...you should know something. I had Kelly in my office earlier today." she began carefully, watching Emilia's face for a reaction.

Emilia took the letter from Kit and put it on her desk. She sat down but jumped back up, as soon as Kit said that she'd had Kelly in her office "What?! Why was she there?! What did she want?! Did she do anything to you?!" She felt terryfied. She had no idea what Kit had told her or why had she been there and she felt scared. It had been happening a lot, since Kelly had freaked out. No one was safe anymore. Emilia just stared at Kit, with her hands shaking. She tried to take her cup of tea, but couldn't lift it, without dropping it. "What did she want from you?" she asked Kit again, trying to keep her voice from shivering.

Kit held her hand up calmly to try and reassure her old friend.
"It's ok, Emilia, stay calm. She didn't do anything to me." she thought carefully abut what to say and what not to.
"She was arguing with Krysta Hedwig. I pulled them into my office to try and sort it out. They were making quite a racket out in the hall." She said, telling white lie.
"They were arguing about Dara it seems. Something to do with her baby. Krysta wanted her to do something that Kelly didn't want to do. In the end Krysta stormed off. I don't think they've spoken to each other since." she explained carefully, sure to keep all the details out of it. Emilia was her friend, but she was still a Death Eater.

When Kit told Emilia, Kelly hadn't done anything to her, she let out a sigh. Atleast she keeps close to her side. She listened to everything that Kit had to say and thousands of thoughts ran through my mind. Why did she tell Krysta about Kildara's baby? What did she tell her about it? She couldn't understand Kelly's behaviour one bit. And Kelly arguing with her friend and letting her go just like that, it wasn't something she'd do. "She has lost it. She seriously has. You didn't tell her anything about us being friends right?" she looked at Kit carefully. If she told Kelly, she was in danger. "Kelly isn't herself anymore. She's not the sweet girl, she was before." She turned her eyes outside the window.

Kit shook her head.
"No, she knows nothing about us. I'm only telling you because of your connection to the girl. She seemed very angry, and not just at Krysta. I understand Dara has lost her baby, is that true?" she asked. She hoped the answer was no. If it was true, then Kelly was a murderer.
"What concerns me is her behaviour, now that you mention it. I'm worried that Kelly will do something stupid like try to confront Dara by herself. Krysta was trying to talk her out of it. That's what they were arguing about."

Emilia let out a sigh. "Good. She can't know about us, cause you'll be in danger. Right now, Kildara is her main worry, but as soon as their paths have crossed, she'll be coming after me and my loved ones." She turned her eyes towards the table, looking at her cup "Yes, Dara's baby is dead." Words got caught in her throat. Again she remembered that she had failed. It made her feel weak and depressed. "Yes, Kelly will do that, if she hasn't already. Her feelings are stronger than her mind. She doesn't think at all. She has so much anger in herself. I have a pretty good feeling, that she won't listen to Krysta. The other side of her would, but she has shielded that side behind a wall. That side has no power over her anymore." She looked back up at Kit "She is a threat to herself."

Kit nodded.
"Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. Krysta has obviously tried very hard to get through to her and has hit a brick wall. I'm not really sure if anything can be done. It may be a case of letting her go and learn the hard way that you can't go through life alone. She's sees it as a weakness to let people close to her. She says it's because she doesn't want them getting hurt, but I think it's something else. It's almost like...if she lets someone help her it makes her less of a woman somehow. She's convinced it's her battle and she's got to prove that she handle it on her own. The problem is that learning the hard way never ends well...not in matters like this."
She sighed and ran her hands through her hair.
"Any thoughts or suggestions? Or is this now out of our hands?"

Emilia listened, how Kit spoke about Kelly. She couldn't understand how she could be so understanding towards her behaviour. "Yeah, she acts like someone else, we used to know, don't you think" she smiled, thinking about Kelly's mother. "I think it's out of our hands. If anyone could do anything, it's only Danika. If she can break her, we can all breath easier. If she failes, then there's nothing else to do, to be prepared for the worst. Is the Order aware of what's been happening? Haven't they tried to talk to her?" she knew the Order was supposed to look after their members.
