Reception

[Sebastian Morter]

It was frustating. A million voices were shouting different things...the nurses were blooming oblivious, all trying to calm him down. The fragile thing in his arms moved, also adding to the chaos in his head. Hearing his name, he tried to ignore it and then at the yell grimaced, looking down at Krys. She looked pale, but her eyes were alight, shining, bright, exhilarating. "What?" He asked suprised she hadn't told him earlier. What was she keeping this time? "What's wrong?"

Somehow Krys's face remained calm, though she didn't feel it. It was almost as though she was thinking and feeling so many things that she was incapable of communicating any of them. She opened her mouth to reply his question but it stopped in her throat. What was his reaction going to be? Would be angry? Excited? Scared?
And that was when the panic began to set in. The last remaining colour drained from her face and the look on her face was one of fear and confusion.
"But I don't understand. How could I? How could I let this happen? I'm such a fool." she moaned softly as tears began to flow again.
She clutched his arm and looked at him beseechingly.
"I swear I never meant for it to happen." she told him pleadingly. She took a deep breath and wiped her cheeks before closing her eyes and sighing.
"I think I'm pregnant."

Sebastian didn't understand how his heart was handling this. He was sure it was beating so loudly the entire hospital could hear. Watching her face change so quickly he went from confused to panicked to anxious and from then on he didn't bother figuring his emotions out. Her pale complexion changed to a colour so light it was almost translucent. Shaking with fear, he waited as she talked so utterly confused. What was she talking about? Such a fool? He didn't get it. When she clung to his arm, he watched her painfully, really so beyond scared it was frightening. As he heard her words, he sighed and then laughed, "Right, okay let's get you to the doctor" Smirking, he shook his head, "Nurse...we're going to need a doctor...now?" The impatience was palpable. Pausing he moment, his heart sunk, "f**k...Your pregnant?" He laughed, nervously at first and then finally the suprise ebbed away and there was only joy. "Krys...we're going to be parents! Oh my god!" Hugging her to him, he kissed her, "We're going to be parents...wow..."

She'd never seen his mood and emotions change so quickly. One minute he was distracted and determined, the next he was laughing. And then he was staring at her in shock. The shock she was prepared for. She had also been prepared for anger, panic and denial. She cringed, waiting for the shouting to start.
So when he suddenly burst into a huge grin and he pulled her tightly into his arms exclaiming rather happily (and loudly) that they were going to be parents she was completely flabbergasted. She practically froze, her eyes bulging out of her head with the look of someone who'd just been petrified.
He was happy. He was excited!

But how did Krys feel? She didn't know. She'd never really thought about being a Mother. Certainly not right now. There was so much to do and she was only just getting started. How was she supposed to raise a child? She could barely take care of herself. She hadn't even graduated Hogwarts yet. And then there was Dara and Caeleb. What might they do to her if they found out?
And yet was it not her duty to produce an heir? To carry on the bloodline? It was a little sooner than was ideal, but Sebastian seemed overjoyed at the prospect of having a child with her.
Maybe it would be good. He would leave his parents and they would set up a new home together. They could be happy, couldn't they? They would be a family.
She pictured the little light dancing in her mind, remembering the joy she felt when she saw it dancing. Slowly a smile began to creep onto her blank face and soon she was hugging Sebastian back.

The repercussions and consequences hadn't quite hit him yet. But the thought of having a child and living with Krys was all that he could think about, his joy overshaded any sane thought, and hugging her tight to his chest, he beamed. "I can't believe it" he whispered, softly awe in his voice, "I just can't..." He kissed the top of her head and looked at her, but there wasn't the same joy mirrored in her face as in his. "What's wrong? He asked, but in the silence crept a smile and if possible he grinned even broader, "A little boy..." Smirking he added, "Or a girl" Kissing her lightly, he shook his head, "You didn't know?" He asked hardly believing his eyes as he looked down at her abdomen.

As Sebastian began fantasising about whether their baby would be a boy or a girl, Krysta looked up into his face and saw pure joy there. She didn't even notice but her ace automatically mirrored his, his smile infectious. With a giggle that was like none that had ever left her lips before, she took his hand and placed it over her abdomen. She shrugged and shook her head, another giggle escaping her lips.
"I dunno...I mean...I guess I felt something...some kind of energy, but..." she babbled excitedly. She stopped and fell silent, though the infectious smile remained. She giggled again and kissed him quickly but firmly.
"I can't believe you're reacting like this." she said, shaking her head happily. "I was scared you'd be angry or freaked out or something." she admitted, sliding her hands around his waist.

Sebastian grinned, holding her tight to him. As she babbled he smirked and nodded, "Right...does this energy make coffee? Or is this the one that fights the badies?" He asked cheekily. His face promptly fell, "Why?" How could she possibly have thought he would be angry. He was running on shock and adrenalin. His real reaction was a few weeks away. Names.....hmmm

She giggled as he joked about the energy.
"Actually it's the kind that pokes people in the ribs when they tease you." she said with mock crossness as she dug him gently in the ribs.
She saw the look of hurt and horror that crossed his face and instantly felt guilty.
"Oh no, I don't mean it like that. Please don't be upset. It's just...it's such a shock and I didn't know if you'd panic. It's not like we were planning this, Sebastian." she rambled quickly. But his face had already become thoughtful and happy again.
"What are you thinking now?" she asked with a rue smile. She couldn't keep up with his emotions. She suddenly found herself realising what it must be like for him when he was around her.

Sebastian grinned, "Oof" He murmured, feeling the wind leave him, "You really don't know your own strength Krys" He replied, laughing wrapping his arms around her waist, "I'm not upset, I'm just suprised" Kissing her lightly, he sighed, "We didn't. But what's done is done" Grinning as she asked him what he was thinking he shrugged, "Guess" He laughed and his hand dropped to her abdomen, feeling so unbelievably out of his comfort zone.

Jocelyn came down the elevator and saw a couple and the new welcome witch (she couldn't remember her name) trying frantically to contact someone. She walked over to the desk
"It's okay," she murmured to the girl behind the counter. The couple looked as thought they were discussing something, but, it was her job, unfortunately, to interrupt.
"I'm sorry to interrupt, but you asked for a doctor?" she enquired, giving them both a smile.

"oops." she murmured as she accidentally winded Seb. She smiled apologetically and was about to tell him that she was empathic, not psychic when a doctor appeared besides them. She was stunningly pretty and Krys was so surprised by her sudden entrance she was temporarily flummoxed.
"Er...well...actually...we came because I fainted and was being sick but I think we've worked out what the problem is." she said, smiling at Sebastian as she slipped her arm around his waist and placed her other hand on his chest. "I most definitely pregnant." she told the doctor. The ball of energy in her abdomen was easy to sense now, she couldn't believe she'd missed it before. Had she been in denial about it, perhaps?

Jocelyn smiled at the girl as she looked at her. She'd never had that reaction before. What was that reaction? The girl looked momentarily speechless. Oh well Jocelyn listened and was just about to fuss when the girl said she knew what was wrong. "Oh," she murmured. What was with all these young girls getting pregnant these days! Jocelyn had delivered a baby for a 16 year old girl during the Easter holidays. Now, there was another influx of youth pregnancies.
"Well, seeing as you know what's going on, I'll just have to tesst to make sure, it's my job. I'm a Maternity Healer, would you believe it or not," she chuckled. "We can either go up to muy office, or we can move to the room on this floor, it's up to you."

Krys sensed the disapproval the doctor felt and it annoyed her a little. In her opinion it wasn't this woman's place to judge her or Sebastian. Ok, the pregnancy wasn't planned and she was only 17, but she was of age. She was an adult in a strong relationship. She pursed her lips together a little, but remained polite.
"Your office will be fine." she replied, trying to keep her tone even.
