Sara walked into the Great Hall and looked around. Soon, it would be filled with students. Her students. She sighed, remembering her own Hogwarts Days. How very different they'd been. She herself had been pregnant during school, but lost it from her body rejecting it. There was a girl that she'd had to make plans for regarding her child. She'd taken sympathy on her and done all she could. Thinking of that reminded her of her recent encounter with Rabastan. Why now? Why had he come back now? She sighed and made her way up to the staff table, sitting in her seat. Looking out at the Hall, she and an odd giddy feeling. This was a wierd look at the school. Sitting there, she waited for the Hall to fill.

Emilia walked into the Great Hall. There were not many people there, but she could recognize the faces. She smiled to Alycya, sitting at the Gryffindor table and gave a nod to Gabriella, before walking up to the Staff table. She could see only one other person there and her heart sank. She hated that figure there from the first moment she saw her. First of all, she wasn't half the person Dara had been and secondly, she had hoped to have a word with Simon, before the new headmastress came. There was no chance for that anymore. She walked up to the table. "Miss Templeton, I assume. I'm miss Pettigrew. Potions teacher" she held out her hand, grasping the other woman's fingers briefly "I hope you've settled in alright?" She didn't care one bit, to be honest. She knew that person didn't belong there, but she had to put on a good face. Miss Templeton was still her boss, wether she liked it or not. Though in her opinion, no one would ever be worthy of replacing Dara. Never.

Sara looked up as someone addressed her. Were all the teachers that young? She was going to be the oldest by far, wasn't she? She gave a warm smile to the woman, despite the other's icy exterior. Extending a warm hand, she raised an eyebrow as the handshake was ridiculously not right. "Please, call me Sara," she told her. Picking up the vibes, she sighed. "I want to make something clear," she said, dropping her voice. "You very obviously don't want me here, but I'm here, so you're going to have to get used to it, whether you like it or not. I know exactly who you are, and what your allegiances were. Do you know me? No. So don't push it Emilia." Her tone was one of talking to a disobedient child.

Kaiia walked towards the staff table. She had been intending to speak to the new Headmistress. She actually felt quite well-disposed towards the woman; she had, after all, been partly responsible for Kaiia being found innocent at the trial. And Kaiia was sure that she couldn't be worse that Kildara had been!
But then she saw that the headmistress was speaking to Emilia, and by the looks of it, there was already some friction between the two. So she merely nodded courteously, and took her place at the table. For once she was actually quite hungry!

Sara looked up as she saw someone walking up to the table. She returned the woman's nod, then recognised her. "Ms Blackthorn," she said, turning back to Emilia. "We'll return to this conversation in a moment, I have to speak to Kaiia," she said, standing and moving over to where the other woman was sitting. She feel the coolness from the woman. Now that was odd! "Kaiia," she said, giving her a smile. "I have some good news for you."

Kaiia had barely sat down when the headmistress approached. She rose - partly out of politeness, but mostly so that she wasn't looking up at her like a child speaking to an adult. "Ms Templeton," she said, extending her hand in a handshake. It took all her self-control not to snatch her hand back - the other woman felt like she was on fire! What on earth...?
She met her gaze as calmly as she could. "Good news is always welcome," she said politely, wondering what this was all about.

As their hands touched in a handshake, they both seemed to be fighting to recoil. The other woman's hands were ice to Sara's fiery temperature. She shrugged it off.
"Well, I thought I'd tell you congratulations, you've ben given Slytherin Head of House, for this year," she told her warmly.

Kaiia smiled, a rare faint blush tinting her pale skin. "Thank you, Professor Templeton," she replied. Head of Slytherin house! Recalling previous Heads of Slytherin, Kaiia added, "It's a great honour - I will do my best to live up to it." As she met the headmistress's gaze, it was almost as if there was a faint glow emanating from the other woman. Interesting. She'd never met one before, but she suddenly wondered if she was a Fire elementalist. Definitely interesting.

Sara smiled. "You're welcome, Professor Blackthorn. I'm sure you will," she agreed. She noticed the odd sort of look the other woman was giving her. "Are you okay?" she asked. "Something you want to say?"

Kaiia hesitated, then said, "Forgive my mentioning it, but are you a Fire elementalist?" Then, in case that had sounded like an accusation, she added, "As an Elementalist myself, I find it an interesting subject."

Sara nodded. "Yes, I am," she said, no need to hide it. It was who she was. A difference in her made her stronger than normal witches. Now, that difference people were recognising as something good, not wrong, and now, someone like her was in power. It was good. Hearing Kaiia's explanation, she nodded. "Let me guess, basing it entirely on the temperature of your hand - Ice?" she asked, an obvious strain in her voice.

Emilia merely shrugged as she got an answer from the other woman. She really didn't care at all. She was just happy, that they both understood there'll be no bonding between them. Her head turned as Sara adressed someone else. Noticing Kaiia, she smiled. She let Sara walk past her before taking a seat and pouring herself someone pumpkin juice. Her thoughts slowly drifted out of the school back to the end of last year.

Finally, Professor Templeton stood in front of the school.
"Welcome to a new year. To the new students, welcome, and I hope your time here is as enjoyable as the older students' has been. To everyone else, welcome back. The last year here bought with it much death and destruction. This year, I am hoping you will all let me help work through it all. I understand many of your friends are no longer with us, and I am in no way, trying to make you forget them, just honour their spirits.
I also understand, there are some that were on the opposing side that have returned this year. I would ask you please, DO NOT give them a hard time. They are suffering just as you are, having lost friends, and family.
You may find my approach a lot different to the late Professor Snape's. I am, in general, a little stricter. I'm older, and not as flippant. But, I am approachable. So, if any of you have problems, my door is always open.
There are just a few small things I have to touch on, before you can eat. I'd like to congratulate Ravenclaw, Aidan Fischer, and Gryffindor, Alycya Weasley, on their appointments as Head Boy and Girl. Also, I'd like to congratulate Professor Blackthorn on her appointment as Head of Slytherin House. I would also like to welcome the new History of Magic Professor, and Head of Ravenclaw, Professor Duran. May we wish them luck.
Well, that's all. May the Feast begin."
Professor Templeton sat, and the tables were suddenly laden with food.

Emilia finished her food and stood up. She sent a disgusted look at Sara and turned to walk out of the hall. She stopped next to Kaiia for a moment, whispering "I'll meet you in your office darling. I could use another drink" she sent her a smile and continued walking out, trying to keep herself from walking up to the new headmistress and cursing her. She was really looking forward to another chat with Kaiia. She smiled gently when walking out of the great hall and following the stairs up to the astronomy tower.
