Emmalynne sort of half-listened as Alex continued answering Mina's questions, curiosity about the Great Battle going through her at the same time she vaguely sensed that it was a sore subject. Not that that would have stopped her from saying something, usually, but then the attention was back on her, and she put Doc back on her shoulder for the time being. Just in case she felt the need to use her hands.
"I need to feel like reading. And that doesn't seem to happen very often, so a lot of the time I kinda have to force myself to do it," she admitted. Her energy tended to keep her mind running, and it was usually just easier to let herself bounce around than try to control it. And she blinked as she was asked if she was French. "Ummmm . . . not that I know of," she said, a bit mystified. "My father's a Muggle journalist, but as far as I know he's English. We've always lived here, at least." German? "Why are you at Hogwarts, if you're German?," she found herself asking, too curious to stop herself, as Doc tried to cuddle up to her neck to avoid falling off her narrow shoulder again with her erratic animation. "Isn't the whole point of summer to not do schoolwork? I spent most of mine with friends, or with Doc and my little sister at home. Why would you study Latin and stuff?" And she was back to her almost babbling, hardly even paying attention to exactly what she was saying in her need for answers.

Hailey brushed her brown hair behind her shoulder and chuckled slightly, it was rather interesting how she could lead two people on and get away with it; ahh Alex was way too gullible but it took some talent to make Tasha believe that this supposed Resurrection Stone actually existed around the school and now they were both off finding it. And who was about to suspect the hyper little Hufflepuff who was innocent, honestly it was just too perfect and it was only a matter of time until she witnessed the foolish Slytherin and Ravenclaw run around the school like a chicken with their head cut off.

Simon left Emila's office (empty again) and began to make his way to the stairway when the sound of mischievous giggling met his ears. He raised an eyebrow in bemusement. As he turned the corner he spotted Hailey St. James snickering away to herself. He had to admit he was surprised. She didn't come across as the mischievous sort. "You know Miss St. James in general when someone giggles like that it means they were up to something." he said with a suspicious grin as he folded his arms across his chest. "I'd hate to think that a good student like you were up to no good." He added with a wink.

Hailey continued to wander until she noticed Professor Hedwig and immediately changed her demeanor to her usual innocent nature and put her hands behind her back. "Well Sir, that's not the case; can't a good student such as myself randomly laugh even though it seems like I'm causing trouble?" she said with a perfectly innocent grin etched upon her lips, oh but the Hufflepuff was quite the brilliant liar; it wasn't too difficult to make a Professor believe that she wasn't doing anything wrong.

"Hmmm." Simon replied with a skeptical smirk. Teenagers were funny at times. Unlike a lot of adults, he still remembered what it was like to be one and all the times he'd tried to convince his own parents he wasn't up to something. His sister had been even worse. He'd always been sure than he told a convincing tale and that he would get away with murder. But his Mother Kyla had always been wise to him. This as exactly the same. Hailey obviously thought she was convincing an he supposed many others would have believed her. He chuckled again and shook his head. "Just don't get yourself into trouble ok?" he answered and continued on his way.
